The important question is "what do you normally do on vacations?" If you sit around and do little, rather than a destination vacation, then you would probably enjoy a cruise. If you like to leave the hotel and explore more then you might want to stick to hotels.

Have you read or seen any of the promotional materials on the newest Disney ship? Those pictures and videos alone make me want to go on a Disney cruise!!

Peerless - I think the Wiz is right. What type of vacation do you normally enjoy? Do you like eating lots of food? Do you like night clubs/bars? Do you like Musicals/shows? Do you like beaches? Do you like buying cheap alcohol/tobacco products? ;)

If you were to go on a cruise, at least the Disney ship is newer and in better shape. It's going to be expensive, but if you go for the cheaper cruises like Carnival I imagine the cheaper price will translate into cheaper quality. Because once the boat leaves the dock, you're stuck on that boat - and if it's an older, cheaper cruise ship, then I can only imagine it will feel like nothing short of a floating prison.

To avoid the "floating prison" feel i recommend checking the number of "at sea" days in the itinerary. Those can be boring if you are not enjoying the ship. But when you have a different port each day it is like moving your hotel and quite nice.

So it sounds like there are two bits to cover here -

1. Why cruise?
2. Why Disney cruise?
No one's gloomy or complaining while the flatware's entertaining.

Don't forget if you get a cold they can also lock you in your cabin. :D Well not really for a cold, but if you are sick enough they will.

Ok, Peerless, I was once in your boat...no pun intended! For my honeymoon, I wanted to go to WDW, and my wife wanted a cruise. I had gotten sea sick on a fishing boat before, so I was very nervous. After reading reviews, and checking out tons of websites, I said sure! It was the best decision of my life. I have been on 2 cruises since, both non Disney, and they didn't even come close to 7 days we spent on the Magic. The food was amazing, the room was comfy and spacious, and the entertainment was spectacular! Yes there is no casino, but we did win at Bingo!!! lol. Yes there are children, and yes they are not aloud in places you will want to relax! We did plenty of the shows and games for families and still had a blast! If you have any questions at all just ask. She got her adult trip, visiting tropical paradises, and I got my pics with characters, and whimzical entertainment...did I mention how amazing the food was? lol Take the plunge and take the cruise!!!
