I think WDW concentrates more on Epcot and the resorts during the Christmas season. I certainly don't think it has to do with keeping money in thier pocket.[/quote]
While I have no way to prove Jacca5660's supposition empirically, I can not deny either. We all have witnessed different things at WDW that are done with such low-cost, low-quality "cheapness" that "keeping money in thier pocket" seems like the most reasonable and logical explanation (otherwise, we would have to chalk it up to stupidity).

Characters were added/subsituted in IASW in DLR, while the HM at WDW pictures changed, a room of stairways where there was an empty room of spiders, and a change-out of the attic to a new theme and new bride (the attic was replicated from a change-over done at the HM at DLR). Like the POTC changes, the building and the ride (track for boats, doombuggies, etc.) stayed the same.

Now the IASW at WDW did have a massive re-do sometime back. The building itself went through some restoration, the entire attraction was drained, and the floor/foundation was ripped out and replaced. The boarding area was completely renovated with a new theme. I gather that took some $$$. I read that much of the renovations would have allowed IASW at WDW to be able to have the holiday overlay, and yet they still have not done it yet..
I don't see how the Haunted Mansion refurb wasn't a major one. They replaced nearly every speaker in the building, 3/4 of the lights, added a room, re-worked a room, changed the audio in the stretching room, and rebuilt much of the doombuggies drive system. Many things that had been neglected over in the past yes, but still that is a rather large refurb. And with IASW they did change out the boats, rework the water jets (propulsion jets), added the American room, converted more show lights to LED systems, and added characters. To me these are major refurbs, now if you want buildings being razed and structural reinforcement then you may want to check out DCA and Fantasyland in MK.

After reading all the Disney has done, it leaves me with a question. What does Disney consider a major refub??

What annoys me about the HM refurb was it was one of the reasons I often heard why they couldn't do the HMH at WDW. Then we got the refurb, and - what a surprise -still no HMH at WDW. Errrr.......

Of course not! What I meant by that is I haven't had any Scotch! If I can't drink the good stuff, I don't drink anything! Perish the thought (shudder...)
