On your "ice lights" photo I can see the final floats of Spectromagic passing by in the lower left of the photo. Did you both stay to watch Spectromagic during your stay?

Nice shot of the fountain IC, and great pic of the ice lights with and without the fireworks, Mousekedude.
I have to say this has turned into one of my favorite threads because it gives me the ability to enjoy the fireworks that I cannot see whilst visiting DW. Thanks!

I also have a fireworks setting on my camera so I may test that out the next time I go. I think I did once but I don't recall now.

I have a fireworks setting on my new camera, I tried it out, but they didn't turn out that great. I have a hard time catching it at the right moment. Anyone have a trick to this?!

Post it anyway...it may be the same subject, but it's still a totally different photo.

Here's one from inside Mexico...hey it's always night in there so I think it still counts.....

Awesome pic. imagination!!! I don't think we have any inside the Mexico pavilion. I didn't realize it would turn out so well. Looks like a post card! :)

No, we didn't get to see it this time. We were too much in a hurry to get to our other scheduled events. For example, that particular picture was taken while we were at the Dessert Party (stay tuned to the trip report for details on that... )

I just played with my camera until I found just the right settings. Interestingly, we have three cameras that have the "fireworks" setting, but we never use that. They don't come out as well as when we just set everything up manually. As far as getting just the right shot, it's all about the timing. One trick I use is to watch the little dot of light shooting up that marks the path of the "missile", and I anticipate when it will actually explode, and that's when I click the shutter. Of course, that only works on the ones that go high enough that you can see them ascending. The rest is just patience and good instincts, I guess.

Okay!

I also have one just like yours from inside the Mexico Pavilion. The only thing I don't like about this shot is that I was using a pillar as a tripod and didn't push the camera far enough forward, so the bottom half of the picture is the pillar (grumble, grumble)

I think you and I are in the same boat B-babe. I've tried to shoot fireworks with the fireworks setting, but they never turn out right. I've gotten a few decent pictures without the setting.

(I've been really busy and sick lately...I'll try and post a couple of night shots of DL/DCA)
