My daughter is going to Grad Night at Walt Disney World. It's not fair!!! I have to pay for it, and I don't get to go.
(She didn't want her parents to chaperon.)

I think there's an age limit for the Grad Nite because I think there was when I went. No one over the age of 21 is allowed to go as a guest.
I forgot to mention that it was DLR that I went to Grad Nite, not WDW. I don't know if the rules are the same.

Those that actually go and pay for a ticket can go. I remember my school had at least four or five buses filled of people.

Grad night is in MGM and not Mk this year. What a bummer! Next year it's going back to the MK.

I went to grad night at DL in 1976 (YIKES!) and that was back when they would close the park to the general public and only let Grad Night attendees in

.
The other nice thing back in the good ole days is that my Mom worked for Bank of America and we went to Bank of America Night every year and way back then (1960-1974) Disneyland would close to the general public and only BofA employees, their families and guests would have the park all to ourselves. AW the good old days

that was the most fun, fond memories of DL ever for me!

I didn't realize Grad Night was something that has gone on that long at DL. But then I'm not that familiar with DL. Is Grad Night new at WDW!? Or am I that clueless?!
We're pretty lame here in Indiana, our H.S. graduations aren't really that exciting!

DL started it first then WDW caught onto the trend.
Grad Nite originated at Disneyland in 1961 for local area students. Walt Disney World first held Grad Nite in the Magic Kingdom on June 9th and 12th, 1972.

I never attended my grad night due to another function I had to run for other teens backa t home, but in 1999 the had NSYNC and Brittney Spears perform. There was some pretty good groups there too from what I remebered. Security is so tight thought!! My brothers school was kicked out. I also could not imagine waling around in a shirt adn tie all night. Taht part makes no sense to me, and dress shoes!!! Let the kids relax!!

I never did the grad nights. Our High school took a vote, WDW or Canada. We chose Canada since it was going to another country vs. staying in the country. Class was 668 strong and we had more enormous convoy well over 10 motor coaches. Looking back on it I think it was the better decision.

It's the first time Grad Night is being held at Hollywood Studios. My daughter called this morning at 8:30am to tell me they just crossed under the welcome to Walt Disney World sign. I could barely hear her. All the kids were scream'n "Hey Mickey" etc... Then around noon, another call, this time she was at Casey's, they were getting hot dogs. I got a very sincere, "thank you." (That made me feel real good)

I wish my school attended something like grad night!
My shift shift out of training on my CP was Grad Night...working till 5am on your first real shift is different. Also I like how they "friendly frisk" all those that attend!

Our school participated in grad nite 1996. I loved the idea of being there "overnight". I was disappointed though. After a 6 hour bus ride there and waiting forever to get in, my friends and I all got separated beacuse of the wall to wall people and we didn't see each other until we got back on the bus. The lines were all so long that you would only get on 1 or 2 rides if you waited. My friend and I went on all the Fantasyland rides instead since they were considered "uncool".
On the positive side though, I wrote a letter to DL explaining that due to the crowds, I wasn't able to enjoy some of the special merchandise or get the list of participating schools for that night. They sent me the list, a couple of the grad nite stickers and 2 passes for a return trip to the park.

I also did not get the chance to enjoy grad nite. That is a big perk to living in Southern Californian. I need to build a time machine so I can go back and move to California for my senior year.
