Magic versus Wonder

After watching home videos of my parent's h Disney Cruise on the Magic and then videos of the whole family cruise on the Wonder a few years later... I noticed that the Magic has a more formal design to it than the Wonder, which is more whimsical.

While I knew of the obvious differences in the clubs, the atrium restaurant and a few other things (the decor on the front and back of the ship

)... I had no idea that there were design differences between the two. I had always thought the general interior design of the ships cooridors and whatnot were duplicates. The difference can especially be seen in the atriums...

It's amazing how it's the same exact room, yet what a difference the color choice, carpeting, chandelier and windows make.

I guess it's one of those things you're not really aware of, as my parents had no idea of the striking difference until I showed them. Kudos to Disney for not making them exact replicas. Anyone else notice any subtle differences like this elsewhere in the ships?

I hope Disney can bring to life two new designs with the two new ships as different from one another as these.

I definately think that the new ships will be different designs, just because they will have more room to work with. And these ships are being built about 10 years after the Magic and Wonder, so I'm sure their designs will be a reflection on 2010, not 2000. Wow, I feel old...

My family and I went on the Disney Cruise in '99, the year of their Maiden Voyage, we were on the Magic and I didnt' realize how different the two ships were?!?! I just assumed the were very similar.

I can't wait to see what they have in store for the new ships! I would definitely do another Disney Cruise!

The ships are very similar less decor. Typically changes are made to the Magic while it's in dry dock and than shortly after made to the Wonder during its dry docking. The theming and decor are the differences with the Magic being more formal. Lumere's vs. Triton's as the main restaurant for example.

We love both ships equally and look forward to the new ships in 2011-2012 (coincidentally times for WDW's 40th).

Maybe it's because we've been on so many Disney Cruises (12), but other than one being Art Noveau and the other Art Deco, I see not much difference between the two of them.
