I have to admit... The all-encompassing experience of Space Mountain-Disneyland is amazing. The coordinated soundtrack really does amazing things for me. This concept has been fantastically applied to California Screaming, and to Rock n Roller Coaster.

The WDW Space Mountain finally has the refurb dates.

Space Mountain refurb Apr 19 - Nov 21

There's also an article talking about it here: http://blogs.orlandosentinel.com/busine ... begin.html

You can also win a piece of the WDW Space Mountain. The details are in here: http://www.examiner.com/x-1712-Walt-Dis ... orld-Magic

I rode Disneyland's one last week for the first time and it SUCKS. It's too smooth, which makes it less intense. I don't like having paired seating because it also makes the ride less intense. It's way more tame than WDW's. Two thumbs WAY down. I'm hoping they're not going to change WDW's one too much during refurb.

And, of course, the WDW queue is far superior.

In a way it's good that the ride is smooth. Before the refurb, it was very dangerous, jerky and in need of a new track. They lowered the foundation 30 feet to make the ride much safer.

I chose Disneyland's Space Mountain. Although I do like Disney World's. I have to agree with a few people on here when I went on Space Mountain at Disney World last year there was no music. I've been stuck on Space Mountain in Disney world way more than Disneyland too.

LOL OK I have to know Horizons did you actually count the turns?? I am usually screaming my head off and couldn't count them if I tried
Ok, very late response but yes I counted them once. Geeky, I know.
No one's gloomy or complaining while the flatware's entertaining.

It's good to know someone's kept count of them. I never remembered to do it.

I know I'm in the minority, but I love the single rider cars and the openness of the cars at WDW. Yes, DL feels faster and smoother, but it also feels too much like RNRC now, with the soundtrack, and too enclosed to give you the feeling of flying solo through space. To me, DL is just a great 'coaster, but WDW is its own experience, unlike any other.

Which might explain why I'm nervous about the refurb. :(
