A Funny Thing Happened During our Stay at Disney....

Out of the 999 times Disney goes smoothly, there's always one thing to balance it out!

It was the opening of the Disneyland Paris' "Imaginations Parade".

On the corner into Main street (Castle end), a large stage was set up and a Disney official was there to open and present this brand new (& apparently very expensive) parade. He made a speech in French before officially opening it.
As the parade commenced I could hear the music slowly getting louder before the first float (with Mickey and Minnie on board) appeared infront of me, until - it suddenly halted, right in-front of the Disney official!!

The music kept going for approximately half an hour, with the dancers still dancing, during this period the crowd didn't quite understand what was going on - was this part of the show? The wheels on the underside of the float had become stuck in the tram tracks!

After a while, a small tow appeared and a gentleman stepped out and gave the first float a hitch down Main Street before returning back stage.

I am pretty sure the Disney official wasn't too impressed! Although, I was very impressed by the Cast's professionalism to carry on dancing and keeping the crowd entertained during that period of uncertainty!

Has anyone else experienced a "hiccup" with rides, parades....? :?

Interesting. We all expect things to go perfectly when at Disney, but we all know that you can't get it right 100% of the time. Disney always does a great job making sure the visitors enjoy their experience even when things can go wrong.

Props to the dancers for keeping the show going and everyone entertained. They do such a great job every time... even when there are "technical" problems.

That is a great job to the dancers and performers remaining in character during a problem. The worst I have been through was a malfunction on buzz lightyear where the ride stopped, then 5 minutes later the music and all moving parts stopped. The safety bars on the attraction itself (not the ride vehicles) raised up and automated announcements came on saying to remain seated.

Also, I was once caught on test track in the heat test for a minute or two when the ride had a slight hiccup. All in all, Disney handles the emergency and gets things back moving together.

The biggest hiccup I ever had (and I'm not sure I'd even call it that) was when I was on the buzz lightyear right and not even 10 seconds into the ride, my score read "999999." I wasn't aiming in the distance, so I don't think I hit a high point target... I think something was wrong with my point counter. But it made for a great picture so I could tell everyone how awesome I am at this ride!

Ugh... worst nightmare for a breakdown. Caught in the heat lamp or freeze sections for any long duration of time.

I know. It was literally the worst two minutes of my life. I don't think I could have handled it if it went on any longer.

We too were caught in Buzz Light Year...in the star tunnel.......everything turned off and the bars on the edge of the track came up and a voice said, "Please stay seated"... It did take a while for them to fix what ever was not working. I was getting dizzy looking at all those stars flying by.....

How about getting stuck on Its a Small World? Anyone for that?

The freeze section of test track sounds nice in the middle of summer. Yea being stuck in IASW (this has happened to me before) THAT is a nightmare. Super Nightmarish, we are talking horror film bad, M. Night Shamalong (sp?) bad.

It doesn't matter if you get stuck on it or not - just hearing you talk about it has gotten it stuck in my head

We got stuck on Test Track for about 30 minutes. The car just stoped on one of the banked turns and we had to wait for a CM to come get us. The audio kept saying stay in the car a Cast Member will be there to help you shortly (or something like that). It wasn't to bad and we all got front of the line passes.

Only time I got stuck to the point of evacuation was once on splash mtn.... I was annoyed cuase it's my favorite ride.. my wife love it, cause she hates it! (The drop at the end is what she doesn't like). So all day she kept telling me how she "willed" it to break down! haha

Closest I've been was at Splash in MK. It was my first time on it, and just as we were next to board the log, they started an evac, so we had to walk over the bridge and straight out. Without even touching the ride. Other than a few stops for a minute or so on Spaceship Earth etc, I've not been properly evacuated from an attraction yet. Maybe one day...

Andy.
