I love to be friendly to everybody at wdw and on dcl. It adds to the disney magical experience and I hope everybody around me wants to make a more magical experience for others also.

When entering the parks, we always go to the furthest security check point, and gate, etc.. There are no lines. Most people just get in line right behind the other families that are right in front of them. No matter how long the line is. While at Animal Kingdom, I was in an unusualy long line for a fast pass. I decided to walk along side of the line to see what the problem was. Only one cast member was working at this location. She was trying to help one family with a jamed-up fast pass machine. Every one was waiting behind this one machine. There were several machines available, all working. I walked up, got my fast pass, then started to direct traffic. Then one night, again at the Animal Kingdom, we stopped under a light to look at a map. When we had finished, there was a line that started forming behind us. Why? What for??? Who knows. Just sheep?
I have noticed this! It is funny when there are people waiting so long in a line and you just walk up and get what you need.

My father used to always say "People are cattle" in those situations. I think generally when a queue presents you with a choice, people follow the crowd because they feel that it is certain that they will get to the ride in that line. If they don't see anyone lined up in a second queue, such as PotC, people tend to think that area is not open, shouldn't be followed, etc. The phenomenon has been intensified with FP lines added to the equation. People see a second, empty line and now ASSUME that it is the FP line.
The worst is when people are all lined up in line A and you take empty line B and walk by them and they get angry at you. They feel that you're cutting them even though you're doing exactly what you've been told. Sometimes I even feel bad in that situation. The worst I've ever had it is with Test Track's pre-show room; they specifically say "Keep moving in filling all available space" but people will keep the line intact into the room and when you walk up towards the door people will make comments. The thing is, they let in as many people as the room should hold out of the queue, not how many people the room will hold if everyone remains in 2x2 line formation. Some people will say something directly to you, which is fine because then you can explain the situation and they're being open about their concerns but it irks me so much when they opt to talk loudly "to eachother" about you so that you can clearly hear what they're saying. One time, and only one time, I was so annoyed I did the same thing and to my companions said something like "I really hate it when ignorant people can't follow simple instructions, are they stupid?"- I got a couple of glares but they stopped talking. I'm not proud but they just went on and on about "I hate how people think they can just cut you in line"

I think you should have gotten out an orange flag and given everyone hats.northernmousefan2007 wrote:I noticed that when I carry my passporter in my hand or when people see me writeing in it they croud around more then without. A specific time I remeber we were on the disney transport on the way to epcot. I was giving everybody in my party a sticky note with our adr times and numbers and other info that might be important that day. When we got off the bus the family that sat next to us followed us the whole day. They went on all of the attractions right behind us and stayed with us for most of the day. We started talking with them quite a bit, it turned out they don't want to have to worry about what to do or how to get there so every day they go to a park they find people who look like they know what their doing and follow them. sheep who know their sheep at least
I'm a sheep for the first hour because the first hour is critical in terms of riding rides that will be impossible to get on later. After that though, wherever the wind takes me...

I think it depends on the type of visitor. If you have an annual pass, and go to the park often, you have the advantage of experience plus are a bit more relaxed and can admire the view so to speak. Families that only go to the park for a two or three day park vacation once a year or longer, just want to try and take as much in as possible with what little time they have.
