My favorite is Disneyland's POTC the Blue Bayou restaraunt is the coolest thing. Plus the drops are much better.

Ive never actually been to the one at WDW....BUT, i have seen multiple videos of that version enough to make a decision. The overall atmosphere of pirates at DL is just awesome! Just like you said, mageloff, the blue bayou restaurant adds an element to it that makes it stand out in my opinion.

I'm going with Disneyland's version 1.0 not 2.0. I love the fact that there is a second drop, and the story lines used to flow better than in WDW. The DL the story started with you having seen the cursed treasure and then all of the pirates want you to tell them where it was. In WDW the story line was that the Pirates are looking for the treasure and you just happen to come across it. That was the Original story line.

Now the new story line is a little different for both parks. The new one for DL is confusing, you still see the treasure first and then as you make your way into the fort scene the story line changes to the pirates want to find Jack Sparrow, then you get to the end and there's Sparrow saying that he will split the treasure with you. Why would you want to split the treasure with him if you already know where it is? The new WDW version is better now, it flows as well as the original DL version did, You enter through the Davey Jones Fog then through the caves to the drop, then you are thrust into the fort scene and that is when they start the search for Jack Sparrow. At the end you see Sparrow and he again offer money. To me that flows better than the new DL version. JMHO

Dr. Ravenscroft - very interesting about Jack Sparrow. We have not had Disney passes since 2004. Living 30 minutes away from Disney, Universal and Sea World we generally get annual passes. Anyway, we have been looking at the cost to get the passes and hopefully we will soon. I have noticed in a couple of other forums something about the changes, I can tell I am getting old - I like things the way the are! I now understand my grandparents and what they used to say... :x

as of right now, I've never seen DLR, so I'm a bit biased.

also, as of this post, I'm the lone voice for just WDW

I say DLR however I've never been to WDW. But I would think that the original would be the best. I watched a show about when the original was made and how they transported the original animitronics down the freeway etc. I think it is neat to see them in person.

Exactly, this year was my first time seeing the DL pirates, and I really like it.

I've also not seen the re-do since Jack Sparrow. I know that listening to the Sparrow POTC here, I'm not crazy over what I've heard... :(

I liked the theming in both attractions, the bayou bit at DLR and the fortress sort of look in the queue and what-not at WDW. Both are very cool to me.

Don't forget that the DLR has an extra drop on the ride that WDW does not... an extra thrill! :D

WDW for me. An easy choice for just one reason.
I havn't been to DL yet. :|
If someone pays for me to go and try it I'll change my mind to whatever they want.

I'd vote DLRP given the choice, since I've only seen the WDW and DLRP ones. And the DLRP one hasn't been "updated" to include Jack Sparrow (yet?) - It's still as it was supposed to be :)

I haven't seen the Jack Sparrow addition, but I loved DL's version -- until the political correctness changes. It just hit an off note and (to an extent) didn't make sense anymore.

I know that abductions and sexual assaults are not funny; but as a child, that area was never funny; for me, that was where it became clear these pirates were really bad men. They deserved to be imprisoned in the fiery depths of hell, which metaphorically, they were.

The political correctness changes reformed the pirates and just rendered them as scamps and rascals, robbing the unifying song of its irony (and humor) -- they think they aren't so bad, even though their listing of sins is quite extensive -- which was a big part of the attraction.
No, no... He's got a point.

Honestly the way it has been done, at least in my opinion, it doesn't detract from the ride. Granted it confuses the story in DL but it makes the story in WDW stronger. I think I have eluded to this fact once before (see above). And after my last trip out to DL I have to say that I really don't even notice the changes anymore, I have ridden POTC at least 30-35 times in DL since the change over and I REALLY don't notice the Jack Sparrow's, I do still notice the dialogue changes though. Especially the guy next to the barrel after the auction scene.

That is great to hear. It is always sad when the rides are "updated" to a point that messes with your great memories...
