5 weeks isn't too long
We stayed 5 weeks and still there was more left to do. We started exploring all the little hideaways that aren't frequently traveled. It was very relaxing.

Last summer (2007) we stayed at the Boardwalk (DVC) 33 consecutive nights. That is our current record. Summer of 2009, we are planning on 40 consecutive nights at the Wilderness Lodge. This summer will seem short! Only 26 nights at the Beach Club. We do this with 350 DVC points and about $2400+/- out of pocket for four weekends.

I only stay for about 4 days with my parents when we came (all of TWO times) when I was a child, though we only ever went to Magic Kingdom, though I don't know WHAT IN THE WORLD THEY WERE THINKING. I never went back again until 8 years later when I was 20 years old and in the Disney College Program. I fell in love that day, people. I fell in love.
So even though my stay was MUCH more than 25 days, I figure working there doesn't count, so I just stuck with the 4-6 day range.

It looks like we're pretty average at 7-9 days. We usually stay 9 days. We have to make the best of the travel expense since we have half a continent to travel to either WDW or DLR. We opt for going less often and staying longer. Now that we have grandchildren we find that staying longer and not wearing out the little ones with long days works best.
I just saw Calypso's post and I have to add my amen to that. We have wanted to stay at the Poly ever since we first went to WDW in 1985, but never thought we could afford it. The difference in price would more than pay for our airfare. Finally, in 2006, my wife and I, two daughters and their husbands, and two granddaughters stayed at the Poly for 9 days in concierge rooms. Now we say we won't go until we can afford to stay at the Poly again! That hasn't really turned out to be the case, but we do have two concierge rooms booked for 9 days in 2009. Yep, heaven...
9 days @ the Poly... heaven!!!

Our longest is 7 days / 6 nights, but I'd love a two week stay. Ideally, I would include a couple days just to explore the property. It would leave more time to really soak in the different resorts, rather than a whirlwind tour like I usually do over a few hours or so.
