What's Your Disney Retirement Dream Job?

My wife has always teased me that when I get old I will be piloting the motor launches between MGM and Epcot and across the World Showcase lagoon. After all, there seem to be an inordinate number of older gentlemen working those boats. Hmm, shorts and sneakers, sunshine, exercise. Sounds like the life.

What's your dream Disney retirement gig? Any park, any resort. Oh heck, throw the cruise line in there too.

This is being discussed here as well:

Though, now I want to change my previous answer. I'd be a bus driver so I'd always be the "first" to know about all upcoming changes and additions to the WDW theme parks and resorts

Agreed. I honestly want to retire to WDW and be in transporatation. Be it a bus driver or boat driver. I think it would amazingly fun.

I've been thinking about this one since retirement is only two years away. I think I'd like to work in merchandising. My husband wants to be a security guard. Not sure why--searching through peoples stuff doesn't seem like my idea of fun.... Maybe it's the fancy uniform.

I'd like to go back into attractions and work on the same 3 rides I was trained on and one more: Main Street Vehicles, Space mountain, Star Tours, and learn Matterhorn.

I never thought of this... That does sound like kind of a dream job... I'd make everyone call me skipper!

I've always wanted to do attractions; when I was younger, I was silly enough to think that people who worked attractions at EPCOT would be able to actually live on their wages and what-not. I was little so the college kids seemed "old" to me then, you know? I guess I could get by then in attractions in retirement!

Only 30+ years to go before I can retire though... :mickey:

I dunno, do they let retired people drive Monorails? I just want to be the one giving out the co-pilot stickers. :P

Driving the boats back and forth from Epcot to MGM or in the Showcase seems fun too.

Mine would have to be driving the Monorails. :D Or some how scoring the title of "Mayor of Main Street" That would be cool!

I'm not sure I'd like one permanent spot - attractions would be fun, especially Haunted Mansion and Tower of Terror, though. 8)

Monorail Captain. Yeah, you have to be on the Dosck somedays, but I'd love to drive the monorail when I retire.

Haunted Mansion hostess... I wonder if I'd be able to pull off that goulishly somber look consistently? I think I might laugh too much.

I'd wouldn't mind being the CM on The Great Movie Ride. I could be a gangster!!

Same here, Jacca! I was listening to that track again last night and I'd be good at that, if for no other reason than that memorization is really easy for me. And there's a lot of script for the ride hosts on Great Movie Ride. :)

My Mom was a movie nut and we would watch all the old movies over and over. I think I could do Cagne's lines on my own.
