I read this this morning and it brought a smile to my face.
miceage.com wrote:The original 2004 Sub budget was set at 50 million. That crept up to 70 million by 2005. In 2006 when Lasseter arrived the budget went through the roof. When all is said and done ... it ended up at north of a 150 million. With at least a three hour queue expected for the foreseeable future no less.
Nice to see that Lasseter is being Lasseter, putting out a quality product, rather then any old piece of crap. Doing it the traditional Disney way, product quality over price. Also nice to see that Iger is letting him. Would Eisner have spent 150M on the subs, I doubt it.
This to me is a great sign that at least the top new guys might actually get it. Now I am not expecting it all to be fixed in an instant. But its very encouraging to see that Lasseter takes the time to make sure the iconic subs are done right. Bravo
Now its not all about $$$, but it is a big part of it. Disney needs to return to the right path, and path that valued quality over cost. It also needs to squash the politics within WDI and let the creative people have some leash. Lets hope this a step in the right direction.

The story also talks about DCA, it failures, and Disney's acknowledgment that DCA is not to their standards.

That does indeed sound great rdeacon. I AM glad to see Lasseter continuing the build up in Disneyland. I think they finally realized that during the 50th celebration alls they had to do was touch up the paint upgrade a few things and boom, twice the attendance.... And the funny thing is that is what a lot of Disney Fans have been saying for the past umpteen years.

Hooray for Lasseter! Sounds like we're at least starting to return to the right track again. Can't wait to see the subs for myself (but would love to avoid that 3 hour line).

Three hours?! Is that how long the subs line really is? I hope we get there early enough to avoid too much waiting time.

I'd just be happy if they would do something more than a Meet 'n Greet where the WDW subs used to be.
I miss 20K Leagues....

they did do something more than a meet and greet there. It's now Pooh's Playful Spot - a playgound for kids. the rest of it was just filled in/paved over and blocked from view.

Valuable and wasted real estate. That's a hot spot for some attraction. I just don't thnk they know what to put there or can't get the approval for a new attraction. I'm sure the Incredible's Incredible Ride would fit very nicely.

Yeah 3hrs but Disneyland has said that if you get inline before the park closes you can stay in line up to 2 hrs after the park closes, and they said this will be the normal through out the summer.

Yeah, I heard about that yesterday. Well, I'll just have to see. I'll be back late Sunday. Bye everyone! Off to Disneyland!

What makes the Pooh Playground even worse is that there is already a Little Mermaid Playground right next to it. I say knock 'em both down and put in a completely original "E" ride. While it seems like there' hope for Disneyland, WDW gets worse and worse with every passing year.

AMEN!! I'm was waiting for the Que to a gift shop!! I'm really hopeful since they put creative people back in charge. They need to take the bean counters and stick them in some back office. With Eisner gone there is a lot of lost ground to make up!!

Someone give Lasseter a limitless credit card fast! I'm really impressed by the wait times for the subs as well as the press coverage, we even had blurbs on the front page [yes, front page] of the Star Tribune here in Minneapolis. It is read all around the state and to see the subs right there is something else.
As soon as he is done fixing up everything DL they need to move him to WDW. That man can make great things happen from all reports - now about the Peoplemover...
