What is your favorite use of audio-animatronics?

In relation to Disney Parks but not specific to a single resort

I enjoy all of the Audio Animatronics in WDW. But, I'd have to say Stitch in Stitch's Great Escape is my favorite.

I don't love the attraction, but I love that AA. It's like Stitch walked right out of the movie screen into the park.

Yeah that Stitch is pretty amazing. I am not a big fan of the ride too but I really enjoy sitting up close and just amazed on how real Stitch reacts and moves around.
I know this is probably your first flight...and it's mine too...ha, ha

Rain upon that planet Earth. And they rain ... and rain ... and rain. The deluge.

Actually, I found the guns more interesting than Stitch. Those guns moved so fast and I loved the sounds of them moving.

I'm going to go old-school and say Haunted Mansion. The Attic Bride in particular is so cool! Though Spaceship Earth is amazing with it's audio-animatronics too.

Nobody's mentioned this one yet, but the AA that really blew me away was the Mr. Potato Head outside of the new Toy Story ride at DCA. The thing about him that especially got my attention was the movements of his mouth!

Oh, I agree with the Mr. Potato Head. He looks so amazing and he's become a favorite of mine to get photos of whenever he poses or moves.

Can anyone confirm whether Potato Head ACTUALLY interacts with guests? I thought it was just a pre-set dialogue/script but after a few go-rounds I realized it seemed he was actually calling out particular people. And any time someone insulted him he said some very light insult back and it was the same one over and over like someone had a button to push when a kid called him dumb or ugly or something.

We wondered that too. I have only ever been through the ride queue once so I can't say that it is or isn't scripted. Seems like the things he was discussing, hats, sunglasses, etc... were all things that were guarenteed to be in the room so I thought it was scripted. Could be that someone is watching and listening and pressing preset buttons. That would be an interesting job. Maybe it's just a combination of both. Mostly scripted, with every so many minutes, one of the ride operators, listens in, and keys in on something so that everyone thinks the whole thing is interactive. That would be the most cost effective way to do it.

It most likely is only partially interactive. Like there is a set of preset responses that a CM selects depending on the situation. That is the case with Roz on the Monster's Inc attraction at DCA. Similarly with MILF and Turtle Talk at WDW.

That's what I thought too. I had a feeling that the interaction wasn't full and complete but I still love it and I thought it was a creative touch.

Who is MILF? That seems like a somewhat unfortunate acronym for a WDW character?

Monster's Inc. Laugh Floor (MILF)

The Mr. Potatohead has an interactive screen for the CM's that allows them to punch in different criteria, such as red, shirt, male, adult, etc. and it wil say "hey buddy, yeah you in the red shirt........come closer.......your breath smell's."

Ah that's what I thought. He always says the same basic sentence it's just the adjectives that change generally.

The Mr. Potatohead is pretty cool, but I love the last Captain Jack Sparrow in the POTC ride, where he is in the treasure room, draped over the chair, and singing "Yo Ho."
That is just a great examlpe of how far AA have come in just that one ride.
