Both times I went on the DCL my wife and I had no trouble with kids. They do a lot to keep the kids out of the way. Kind of funny that everyone has that concern.
Castaway Cay was awesome, I don't remember there being any flies 8)
And we have done one other cruiseline, Royal Carribean, Disney beat it hands down. But if you'll miss the casino and all the old people, stay away from DCL

Go on a Disney Cruise!!! They have specific areas for grown ups so you can get away from the kiddies if you want to. I was on a Disney Cruise recently and was hanging out by the adult pool. A couple of kids, probably in their early teens, jumped into the pool and were promptly, but ever so nicely, booted! It was awesome! Seriously, if you like Disney and the parks you'll LOVE DCL.
And the thing about flies on the island... it's true but only if you stay there over night, which would mean you work there. I've been three times and never saw even a single fly.

I think for a Disney cruise, it's safer and the noise you get from hyper kids far outweighs any noise from drunken college students. but it always depends on what time of year you go - spring break will have everyone, but if you go one week later it's full of retiries.
Humans strive for perfection and time just strives for tomorrow, and neither really gets there.
