And nothing against the Matterhorn, but I much prefer Everest. If I do the Matterhorn once on a trip I'm more than happy. Everest I can do a couple times a day. 15 times in one day, but that was cast preview.
I think most people compare the two on the grounds that they both have snow and a hidden furry monster.

I always worked during the cast previews, and only got to make it on the day they were giving away those dashboard things. I had to rush to DAK, but it was worth it.
I had 3 of the 4 cast preview days off. I went the first day of the preview and road it 5 times, then I went the next day, saturday, and it was busy because alot of veteran CMs get the weekend off (obviously) and had their whole familes, so the line was 2 hours long and they still hadn't fixed all the kinks, so it kept going 101. I got tired of waiting and left. Went back on Monday, the last day of the preview, and there was no one. So we just rode it 15 times in a row. One of my roommates and I left early, the other stayed and I think he got to about 40 before the end of the day.
Dr. Ravenscroft wrote:The only major thing I have against Everest is the fact that the back of the mountain just looks like the back half of a building. It is flat and is just painted the same color as the rest of the mountain. It is another example of the Imagineers either not doing their job right or, most likely not getting enough funding/time for the project. To me it will always be unfinished.
I believe they're planning on fixing that because they've added slightly more facade than there was when it first opened. Some of the design images I've seen have a whole mountain range back ground.

That's pretty cool. One of my roommates worked at DAK and rode Everest as almost as much as you did, and got tired of it. And then that was even before I got to go on it one time.

That's the drawback of working custodial. Ya work when everyone else is having fun.

I'll try and remember to take pictures of the white fake mountain backside, and post it when I get back.

I didn't take any pictures, cuz I forgot. But yeah, you don't really notice the wall unless from the car. My friend just thought it was the snowless part of the mountain.

Here wold be my list:

1. Back of Everest, needs to be taken from either in your car or in the bus on the way in.

2. Damage on the castle. There are a couple of spots on the castle I'd like to see if they are still unpainted. They are on the front right side of the castle, in between the 1st and 2nd turret's.

3. Over in MGM trying to find all 40 hidden mickey's in the Osbourne family light display, I only got 32. Most you can see at night, but some you have to see during the day.

4. Some of Divine over in DAK, still haven't see her.

If I think of anymore I will Edit this post.

Divine? Is that the crazy vine woman that holds up traffic?

I think I'll pass on 3, though.

Ah go on it's fun. Most of them are made of rope lights.

And yes Devine is that one, but still have never even seen her in action. This past trip I finally got video of Push over in MK, I have seen him tons of times but never got video of him.

I'm crazy and you don't have to listen to me anyway. I'm just thinking of these things because I'm editing may pictures from the last 2 trips. October I took 250 pics or so and on the December trip 918. So as you can see I'm nuts about taking pictures.

I've only seen Devine near the foresty walkways of Asia, just outside of Africa. I saw her this past trip, but only for a few seconds, because she was making her way backstage.

Having just gotten back from WDW (Trip report coming.. Lets say it was a blast except for the part were we came down with the 24 hour stomach flu :)...

Anyways... Everest is bar none my favorite rollercoaster on the planet. I love rockin rollercoaster, and all the other mountains (and I have vististed Cedar Point many times.)..

The ride is fun, AWESOMELY THEMED, smooth, fast, well thought out, beutifull, etc.

That first climb is awesome. I remember the materhorn being space mountain not in the dark. It needs an update :) Matterhorn should be replaced by everest :)

I couldn't get a picture of the back side. I saw it on my approach, but there wasn't anywhere I could walk to where I could photograph it.

Here's a picture of it I found at imagineerebirth.blogspot.com
It only shows the upper portion of the mountain, but you can kind of get an idea of how "un-disney" the backside looks

That is what I was talking about, but of course this is much closer than I have ever seen. It looks worse now that I have seen this. It is just metal siding with the show right above it that is disgusting. I could only see it from a distance before.

Just goes to show you the half finished stuff the Imagineer's are forced to do with marketing in charge. I still love the show side, they did an amazing job, but in my opinion just finish it when you first build it.

Thanks Cheshy!

Wow, that does look rather unappealing. But unless I went really close as this picture, I probably wouldn't think too much on it.
