Harry Potter at a Disney Park?

Post by DisneyManInSeattle » Oct Wed 18, 2006 3:39 pm

Regarding Jim Hill's report.

Would you enjoy seeing HP (not movie related) stuff at a DL park?

I think that as long as the ride was quality (like indiana jones) not something they retrofit to live in another space (like monsters inc) it could be very cool. I would love to see something really epic done with those characters, and as long as it wasn't a knock off dark ride, it could be sweet.

I would love to see a HP attraction built at one of the parks. However, I do not see this happening as the HP franchise is owned by Warner Brothers, and I don;t see them giving up one of their biggest cash cows....

An HP attraction would be awesome, if it was done with the kind of imagination and attention to detail that went into an attraction like TOT.

WB owns the film rights. That's all. Rowling retains all non-film rights to the characters, worlds, plots, etc... and she signed a letter of intent giving Disney the right to develop a theme park attraction.

Warner can't do anything about that.

Interesting. It would take some time getting used to an idea of a HP attraction at a Disney theme park. I can see it at MGM somewhere. They already play HP music around the Hat.

Imagine the grand opening of the attraction, and all the fans. *shudders*

Yeah... MGM could use a ride based on a live action movie... maybe start off like they're filming the movie and suddenyl it's real or something like that. Or if Beastly Kingdom ever gets built Harry Potter could easily find a home there.

I think at Universal they would take the quality to an advantage like Disney would. But I think Six Flags has rights to Warner Bros. because they have the Looney Tunes there. The only problem is Six Flags could never really show the quality required for the ride. Only Universal and Disney could really create a great HP ride.
Do you think have enough time to go the bathroom before the next show?

Harry Potter Park

My daughters and I are big Harry Potter fans. We could easily see a whole park build around Harry's adventures, but we do not think that it fits in a Disney Park.

I don't know if I could enjoy a HP ride/attraction if it didn't have the movie characters in it. That is my biggest problem.

I think they'd have no choice to have characters from the movie. The movie is really how most people actually know the story and characters. I mean, that's how I know them :?

I wouldn't mind seeing something from HP @ the Studios. Maybe a broom ride some how or a walk through the books kind of like how the Great Movie Ride goes through the movies. It could end with a high speed broom race or quidditch match.

I suppose it could fit into the Great Movie Ride quite well as it is/they are some of the defining movies of our time, whether you like them or not!
I wouldn't want to see a whole ride on it though, it's just not disney!
