What makes the best souvenirs?

We buy a lot of souveniers, yet perhaps the most treasured one from our last WDW trip was a little $2 Yoda figure, that my kids just treasure (we lost the matching ewok in a move somewhere along the way). Who knew? I just got it to occupy one of the children while waiting for the older kids on another ride.

For me, it's my ticket, which I still use as a bookmark. Both are small and have turned out to be quite durable in their separate ways.

Do you have any suggestions about what items (general or specific) have made for the best, long-lasting souvenirs?

T-shirts, only ones that actually say "Walt Disney World" on them in some form or fashion. And Pins, if you collect pins at all. Pulling them out to look at them just reminds me of searching cast member's lanyards while waiting in line to ride Peter Pan.

I'm not much into souvenirs. Though, I always have a Disney hat. Obviously, I'm a Disney fan but I don't flaunt it in public. The Disney hats I have are usually subtle. Something like this: http://www.laughingplacestore.com/Product-6431.asp

Memories! Other than that I don't really have something I need to buy with each trip. It's usually something that just catches my eye. My last trip I bought those light-up drumsticks. I don't even play drums.

I think collecting postcards is cool. Disney needs to come out with new ones though. I've seen the same sets on the shelves for the loongest time.

But yeah, I keep all my tickets. I made sure to collect all the Happiest Celebration ones.

Photos and videos. There's no better souvenir than the ones you make yourself.

I have a BIG BOOK called Disney Imagineering and I love it!!! When I grow up I actually want to venture out being an Imagineer. This book has given me tons of information about Disney Attractions and has also taught me that Disney Imagineers have the BEST JOB!!! :D

Disney dollars. They are always changing and it's interesting to see what they do with them to prevent conterfeiting. :mickey3:

I'm really happy to still have my "Key to the Kingdom" from our Disney Cruise. That card got us in everything!

I always treasured my autograph book as a child. Nowadays, I'd love to get my hands on more Disney dollars to remember the trip :mickey:

I absolutely love the Christmas ornaments. I purchase at least one to remember each visit. In fact, two years ago I purchased the Minnie Tree Topper. I also like to pick up a sweat shirt on each visit.

Wife and I just go crazy and buy everything in sight... my downfall is usually t-shirts, last tripe before this one I ended up with 11. This trip I scaled back and only got about 5... :D
