What makes the best souvenirs?

Bwahahah... this isn't Disney souvenir-related, necessarily, but I do that too. My oldest ticket stub is from the 2nd Bill and Ted movie. I do have Disney ones in there, though, as well as ones from the AMC at PI. I can't even remember why I started doing this, but they have their own tupperware case now...

I laugh every time my husband wears his "Light Magic" sweatshirt and people say "I don't remember that one" and my husband says "You don't want to, so don't worry.")

That's hilarious.

Must be a sturdy sweatshirt, too; I imagine it's been a while since those were for sale.

True but wouldn't you be tempted to use them???? Personally I could do that for like 1/2 the rides that have it because I don't ride them, such as Splash, Everest, BTMR, Space Mountain, etc.

Well..I would be tempted to use them..but I only live 50 mins away from the parks..so I have ridden the rides a lot..and I always get fast passes when I go..so I am starting to build a collection of useless fast passes...they are a nice addition to scrapbooks and whatnot

Well then that makes sense. If you were to only go once in a while like say every two years or so then that wouldn't make sense. How many do you think you have now?

Although I agree with you in principle, my very favorite souvenirs remain my ceramic mugs. Yes, I've broken one (but only one, which I replaced via ebay), but I love starting my morning with them. It's a good start to the day.

I think all the Disney themepark & imagineering books I've bought over the years as you can look at them all the time and it reminds me of all our vacations. But I guess my favorite has to be a silver necklace which I bought prior to 1998 which features a round disc with spaceship earth, cinderella castle and the earful tower from mgm - this is necklace is so old it was before animal kingdom or the hat being added at mgm/disney studios - I wear it every day and when I have a bad day at work it reminds me of WDW

I love to buy shirts for the year I am there but by far I feel teh best souveniers are the pictures you get at WDW! Whether they are put on a photopass or you take them your self!

you know what else is a great souvenir that costs virtually nothing...Big Figs

Im just joking...actually I like the park maps and times guides idea...I also pick up a lei every time I go to the polynesian (why? I dont know...because theyre free I guess) Also, if you are lucky enough..or willing to beat up a little kid...you can be co-pilot on the monorail and get a monorail co-pilots license. Thats kind of neat as well.

OK, I actually have a few things that I would have to say make good souvenirs.

1) Refillable Mugs (especially the older ones that had the resort name on them).
2) The old metal keychains that were about the size of a half dollar. They usually were die cast to the current years theme.
3) The shampoo and conditioner from my room. I'd bring my own toiletries and snag the shampoo and conditioner everyday as Mousekeeping replaced it. It's so nice to have that smell remind me of the World. OK, I know that sounds a bit crazy, but it's just me.

We have always liked collecting the different pressed pennies. Especially during the 50th anniversary for DL. They had "milestones" for each year the park had been open. Unfortunately, because some of the machines kept breaking down, we were unable to collect them all.

We also tend to collect confetti, streamers, napkins, park maps, old fastpasses...etc they work well for scrapbooking purposes

And of course, what trip is complete with out more pictures than you know what to do with (how many fit on a memory card?)

The pressed pennies keep DD busy! She has now filled 2 books and will start a 3rd on this trip.

The popcorn buckets came in really handy this weekend when DD started a water fight with our only bucket!

Just about anything makes a good souvenir for me. I have a bag of park maps, unused fastpasses, room keys, park tickets, menus, etc. I also like the refillable mugs, I use them all the time.
