Best Theme Park Story?

This is a tough one to narrow down to. We have almost every ride with a true central story. So how do we do this ?Well, I'm only choosing the rides that have a truly strong story line:

The Indiana Jones Adventure
Splash Mountain
Tower of Terror
Haunted Mansion
Pirates of the Caribbean
Big Thunder Mountain
Kilomanjaro Safari
Jungle Cruise
Small World
Star Tours
Carousel of Progress
Dinosaur
Blizzard Beach (the whole park)
Mission Space

This only to name a few... I personally love Splash Mountain's story because of it's American classic style

TOT and HM are my favorite attraction storylines - and you forgot Rock-n-Roller Coaster - another classic storyline! 8)

I like Star Tours, being white & nerdy, but Pirates has a great story that you are sort of discovering as you go along, which is just great. Haven't seen the new version yet though...

While I like HM and POTC over Splash, I feel that Splash does the best job of following a flow and telling a story. Though, most of the dark rides in Fantasyland do a good job of telling stories as well. Except Snow White at DLR, it just ends abruptly.

I looooove the Indiana Jones story...

"NO! Foolish INFIDELS! You have looked into my eye... your path now leads to the gates of DOOM! HAAAHAHAHAHA!!!"

(please note they cut the "infidels" part at some point... was it post-9/11? or earlier? anyone know?)

No kidding -- I always laugh at the ending and "they lived happily ever after" poster.

That's a hard one -- I really like POTC, but the guest is mainly an observer, as with a lot of other rides. I like storylines that really put the guest into the middle of the story. With that in mind my favorite is probably Splash Mountain, because we get to go into the briar patch along with Brer Rabbit. I also like Kilimanjaro and RnR coaster.

As far as stories go, Splash Mountain has the most definite storyline and doesn't really leave anything for the rider to assume or make up to fill in any story gaps. Others like HM, POTC and TOT leave bits of storyline unknown for the guest to ponder.

I didn't even notice... they probably did cut "infidels" as they took away the guns on the Jungle Cruise for awhile after 9/11.

Agree with Cheshire. It's nice when the ride allows the patron to put in the pieces with their own imagination. Probably why I'd put Haunted Mansion first.

Great point, and an incisive observation. Very interesting difference between the attractions -- observer vs. participant.

FWIW, Peoplemover also put you into the "story" even though it's more of a tour than an experience in itself, perhaps... I've written a bunch about the ride here:

FWIW, Adventures through Inner Space had a great, immersive story line.

Very intense for me as a little kid. It was great. 8)

POTC has a great one as do HM, Splash, BT, and a host of others, but does anybody remembeer the TOAD!!!!!!

Those of us who call Disneyland our "home park" still visit Toad Hall and take a wild ride with ol' Mr. Toad.
