I've taken the Japanese maps to help with my language study but I've never tried taking all of them. Sounds like a challenge.Dr. Ravenscroft wrote:Here's one that I don't think others have done or maybe they have. Have you ever collected all of the different language ones????? I have all of them for the past 2 years now and I plan on continuing this until I get kicked out of the parks for it.
acp - that's definitely my kinda wall.

You do know that old ride tickets are still good. They are also very, very collectable!!It's so funny, the other day, My dad found a big bag of old maps, and tickets from our older trips from 1993, and 1994. Ah, it was good times reading about the "NEW" rides at the time and the rides that are no longer with us.

The daily park maps are cool and great mementos of visits but I really like the big fold out maps they used to make and update regularly. So I collect both! Probably my most favorite map is one from the first few years of EPCOT. It has one of those little wheels inside that you can spin and find all kinds of different information. They sure don't make them like they used to though
Are these still sold at Disneyland and WDW? I used to collect these as a child. I don't know why I stopped.rocketman wrote:...I really like the big fold out maps they used to make and update regularly...

Love collecting the park maps! Every time we leave the parks, we grab a fresh copy of the park map and the day's (well, week's) program. The challenge then becomes trying to keep the maps and programs in mint condition until we get home.DisBeamer wrote:I've taken the Japanese maps to help with my language study but I've never tried taking all of them. I have never even thought about grabbing a copy for every language! What a great idea!

When I went to Tokyo Disneyland in high school, I fixated on collecting as many of the maps and promotional materials for the park as possible, and then tried to keep them unwrinkled for the rest of the month I spent in Japan. It was hard, but I have several maps in pristine condition still! I also have many years of Disneyland maps in various conditions floating around.
Also (and don't tell DLR this or they might fire me retroactively) when guests would come up to me when I was working at strollers or guide, and their kid was putting up a fuss about wanting an autograph book, and mom was having none of it, I would often suggest to the parent that they simply take a copy of the *free* park map, buy a "big pen" (the characters have significant difficulty with signing with regular-sized pens), and have each character sign the place on the map where the family found them. I'd like to think that, while I cost the park some sales, I removed just a tiny bit of familial strife from many people's lives with that suggestion.
