I never said it was YOU in particular, thankyouverymuch. I merely was stating that at least ONE person in this thread has signed the petition (other than myself) to bring back the peoplemover.spaulo wrote:First off, shame on you for looking down your nose at me. Second, I'd love to see the Peoplemover back, that's true... but this whole concept is completely silly. Even if it DID happen, why would Disney actually take the money to not "cut corners" when they could just as easily take the money, claim every effort was made to avoid cutting corners, and report record profits... not, of course, from the donations, but from the fact that the Theme Park division came in waaaaay under budget!js3901 wrote:I'm really surprised at some of the responses, given what (at least) one of you is helping in doing - trying to bring back the peoplemover? ring a bell? sure, we can sign petitions and write letters all day, but we've already seen that (at least so far), nothing has happened.
It's just naive to think that this kind of concept... a major corporation accepting donations from eager fans to do what they ought to be budgeting for anyway? Who ever heard of such a thing.
Would you donate money for a better attraction?

Again, if I knew it was guarenteed that my money would help build a better attraction or save a current one I would donate.
At least now I know who not to ask if I ever take donations on this site.

It's a joke, notice the little smiley face next to that sentence. I worry about legal issues and plan to never take donations.

Good debate on this topic. I like to see all the responses. I think I should clarify my position a little.
I really don't think it’s my reasonability to donate any money to fund an attraction. It’s not like Disney is a not for profit company. Disney is a for profit entity, and thus it's their reasonability to entertain me. Its like donating money to a team to sign a player. Now I do agree as a fan/guest we should lobby for attractions that we like and it does make good fodder for forums. But that is where it ends, especailly for an extremely profitable company like Disney.
You can't tell me they are hurting for money, and if there budgets are 150m there is no excuse not to rehab or develop attractions that live up to our high standards. You also have to realize that the investment in a ride does have a return on investment, its not an expense. So that initial 100m investment for Everest will have a return when the guest come streaming in the gates.

It depends! If it was money towards a ride that had no chance of failure like Indy or HM then I would do it in a second in order to make it better.
Do you think have enough time to go the bathroom before the next show?

I remember reading an article at re-imagineering that sort of introduced the same idea but in a different manner.
Here's the article for whoever is interested: http://imagineerebirth.blogspot.com/200 ... jects.html
We all know that there are those bricks in front of Magic Kingdom and Disneyland that have the names Families, Couples etc. that have been to the parks and paid to get their names there. What if you could do the same thing for attractions and all those who donated got their name somewhere whether it would be in the attraction or around the park. Sort of like a civic project for Disney. I really liked the idea anyways.
BTW, I would gladly pay some money out of my pocket to see Horizons back.
