I would love to start a nice little pin collection sometime soon. Completely off topic, but what are the really rare ones that people give arms and/or legs for?

This from the guy that runs a Disney theme park radio station!

We have 10 or so, but after reading the various posts in this thread, it makes me want to buy more!

My wife and I trade pins because it's fun. We don't do it for value or any otehr reason. It gives us something else to do while we are walking around the parks or waiting in line.

The best thing to do is to buy pins in bulk on ebay for about 2 bucks a pin. Then trade with the cast memebrs for pins that you like more. You can actually save money and have fun at the same time! 8)

Next Disney trip, I'm definitely going to start up a pin collection. With my normal habits of hording and collecting, I'm surprised that I haven't started one already.

Let's see, about 2 trips to Disney, and a couple of purchases online from Disneyshopping. com. If you add up all of the days in between the purchases I wouls say about a year. The first Pin I ever got was the Mickey ears American flag in the third picture. I found it as I was walking to the train after work and I was going on Vacation the next day to WDW last Oct., what a coincidence right?

there was a lady in epcot next to the fountain...brought her entire collection. 5 books plus...people were looking through and when they wanted to trade she would look at their lanyard and say..."nah you don't have anything i don't have"...i was thinking...then why are you here? to show us what you have and what we don't? I feel sorry for her...she wasn't enjoying the park...too wrapped up in her pins.

We haven't collected, but my dd has a few given to her by CMs who saw her doing something helpful, nice or good. They are her treasures. :ariel:
No, no... He's got a point.

These kinds of people are just crazy. I collect to give me something else to do when walking around the parks. I could care less if the pin I have is a cast lanyard pin or not. I collect Pirates, Space stuff, Donald pins, Sorcerer Mickey, and a few random other things that are special to me. But it's all for fun, otherwise, I wouldn't waste the time or money.

I agree with you. I have seen people on the Disney Cruises who carry books and books of pins with them. Why in the world would you want to lug all that around, not to mention they probably pay extra charges for their luggage because those pins are heavy.

Pin collecting is fun but I would never want it to become an addiction.
