I'll third that notion of it being wierd seeing a different castle at the end of Main Street. The only time I've been to Disneyland was when I was too young to remember. I was less then a year old. I too grew up in WDW and so that's what I know. In my opinion that's the way it's supposed to be; you're supposed to see Cinderella's castle at the end of Main Street. I would love to visit Disneyland, and I'm sure I'd have a blast, but WDW will always have a special place in my heart.
Please keep your arms and legs inside the vehicle until the ride comes to a full and complete stop. Thank you, and enjoy the rest of your day here at Walt Disney World.

Uhh, yeah. Significantly larger. CC is about 189 feet tall, while SBC is about half that height.

Also, it appears that among the five magic kingdom-styled parks, there are only three castles... WDW and Tokyo have the same Cinderella Castle, DL and HK have the same Sleeping Beauty Castle, and Paris has Le Chateau de la Belle au Bois Dormant... which translates to "Sleeping Beauty Castle," but it's significantly different from the DL/HK SBC.

Thank you that explains it!!

The castle at DLP is very different from either of the US ones - it is very much a fairy tale castle, mainly because they felt there were too many real castles within shouting distance of the park. It is very beautiful but I agree with other posters that there is something special about the original castle in Disneyland.

DL's castle is the smallest
WDW and TDL's are near identical and top out just short of 200 feet (otherwise they would have had to put an airplane warning light on the one in WDW)
HKDL's is based on the original in DL

and DLP's is made to look like it is embedded into a hillside and looks nothing like the others

Personally, I'm a lifelong Disneylander but the WDW castle is pretty sweet

Edit: oops, sorry spaulo. didn't see your post.

I find that each of the castles have their own wonderful qualities. I'm especially fond of this poster:

I'm afraid that's the biggest version I could find. I've seen a few of these on eBay if you're interested in getting one.

More info on that poster...

It was a cast member poster. Therefore eBay "should" be one of the only places you can get a copy.

That poster is really nice. Man, I wish I knew cast members during the celebration/homecoming.

I think I prefer Cinderella's castle more. Its more grand and elegant, plus it is more romantic looking. Sleeping Beauty's castle to me looks kind of odd. That is just my opinion. :ariel:

Both castles are wonderful to see. But, knowing that Walt walked through Sleeping Beauty's castle makes it very special to me. :ariel: :mickey:
