Yet another disincentive.

Just heard that Universal Los Angeles is going to a demand-based pricing system. How soon until we see this at WDW?

It is literally getting to the point where people cannot afford to go to the parks. They may get to a point to where less people will be coming to the parks, that point of saturation where people simply cannot come any more.


I used to live in Orlando, and we have been once a year every year since we left, which was 10 years this year. But we dont think we are going to get to go to Disney next year. Its over $1000 a person for a week at the parks, plus everything else. I only work 20 hours a week. I simply cannot afford that.



It will be a sad day when I can no longer afford the Happiest Place in the World.

The price does just keep increasing ~ luckily it is cheaper per day the longer you go, but for those just visiting a day or two, it really puts a dent in the vacation budget. I would love to go again this year, but having just gone last year, I'm sure it will be at least next year before we can go again.

It is cheaper per day, but still, the prices are still going up sharply. For a group of 4 of us for a week it was over $1000 a person. That is a lot to save up for year after year (and going up)

I feel the same way about pricing. Fortunately for me, we access to a couple of discounts most people don't so we're not affected as much.

I think this (combination of ticket price increases and possible demand pricing) is Disney's attempt to control crowds.

When the obvious answer is to built a new resort closer to me!

No doubt it is an expensive vacation. It does get to where you have to weigh the enjoyment against the costs.

Obviously!

The other thing to take into account is that with surge pricing in effect, it will also entice customers to book as soon as possible so that the demand pricing will have the smallest effect. Presumably, high season rates will kick in as the floor and only go up rather than having a flat rate 356 that only rises with actual demand.

I am not sure how their pricing system works, but some places will actually change prices by the minute, which can lead to impulse purchasing.
