Correct. The Mickey head/silhouette was on the loop of California Screamin', and the sun was on the Sun Wheel. When they decided to change the theme of Paradise Pier, the sun was taken down, the Mickey head was removed from CS and a Silly Symphony Mickey head was added to the newly named Mickey's Fun Wheel.Amy wrote:It didn't have Mickey in the center when it was the Sun Wheel right? Just a huge sun?MmeLeota wrote:Mickey's Fun Wheel (previously known as the Sun Wheel) just seems to be overly photogenic...like everything else in a Disney park, right? I love how that last one made it look like it was part of a cartoon.

That all sounds vaguely familiar. I miss seeing the Mickey head on the loop of CSMmeLeota wrote:Correct. Hey cool...it does. Never noticed that before. The hat pops up for wishes, but it wasn't during the time of this picture.Amy wrote:Lovely! The castle part peeking through the partners statue looks a bit like Sorcerer Mickey's hat!

Not a good picture of Mickey, but I like how the flames look...
This picture always reminds me how sitting in the front row, you REALLY feel the heat!

Thanks Amy...I agree - getting decent pics at Fantasmic is nearly impossible - but like you said about HM pics...I just shoot a LOT of pics. Perhaps 1 in 100 are usable!Amy wrote:That is an excellent shot of Fantasmic ~ it is hard to capture good photos of that sometimes!

This one -- I set the camera on a garbage can - didn't have a tripod then - and took 2 shots I think, cuz my family was rushing ahead to ride Everest. I had to run to catch up with them!

Love that photo of Mickey and the flames. We always sit way in the back in the accessible seating now so my photo challenges include having to zoom in for every photo. I like having the overlook position though
Beautiful night shot of EE!

Fantastic Fantasmic! I will have to try and find some of ours.
It's so true about just shooting like crazy and hoping for the best...that's the joy of digital photography.
The only downside is having to go through the thousands of pictures to find to gems.
We have yet to see EE in person...I hope to get a shot like that someday.

This is not a good picture. Mainly because it's a digital picture of a paper picture that I also cropped...but it's the first one I came across of the old California Screamin'. If my memory serves me correctly, this is from 2001...the inaugural year of the park.

Here's an idea of where we were for the first time we saw WoC, but it's zoomed in a bit. Again, not a great pic but between trying to snap pics and watch the show for the first time, I didn't fare too well.

Here are a couple of Sleeping Beauty Castle shots at dusk:

I'll have to look around for some others to share.

I am loving the resurgence of this thread ~ I can't ever see enough photos of the Disney parks!!
That pink color is so pretty on the castle MmeLeota ~ and the lit up Mickey is definitely one I remember on the side of CS
Your view of WoC wasn't a great one was it

Nope, and I think that's part of the reason we felt a bit disappointed in the show at first.Amy wrote:I am loving the resurgence of this thread ~ I can't ever see enough photos of the Disney parks!!That pink color is so pretty on the castle MmeLeota ~ and the lit up Mickey is definitely one I remember on the side of CS

I also love seeing everyone else's parks pics! There are so many talented photographers on here! I'm like you, Amy...can't get enough of the photos!

Re: Disney In The Dark - Photo Tribute to Disney Magic at Ni
Even sitting up close during F!, you need a zoom lens, or good luck, or both!Amy wrote:Love that photo of Mickey and the flames. We always sit way in the back in the accessible seating now so my photo challenges include having to zoom in for every photo. I like having the overlook position though
We ALWAYS sit in the very front row...there's actually one bench in front of each section right on the fence. They fill up pretty late and so you can get a near center seat without having to be first one in the stadium. Yes, you can get a little spray...but you are also really close to the CMs, especially those on the boats, etc.
We also feel less crowded there because no one is in front of us, and the next row is pretty far away.
I have often wanted to sit farther back to see it from a different perspective, but we don't go that often so would hate to "waste" a F! trying out a seating location that it turned out we hate.
Same way for Wishes...we always sit pretty close to the hub. I know farther back (even TTC) has a good perspective too, fireworks seem larger etc, but we always sit up close. Once we tried to be different, and watched Wishes from behind the castle. Never again! It was nice, but not the same in my opinion.

And even after going through them, I don't really delete ANYTHING, so I have so many blurry, bad pictures that are NEVER going to be good taking up space on my hard drive!MmeLeota wrote:...The only downside is having to go through the thousands of pictures to find to gems.
