Dr. Ravenscroft wrote: That is probably one of the reasons. Also I don't think people understood what the single rider thing actually was. I also heard that people complained about "ringers" getting all the points leaving the person that waited in line for XX minutes a few scraps worth of points. Indy still has Single rider, which I witnessed being abused several times last week when I was there. I had a family do single rider, then a group of 4 friends both groups, when they got to the front, said they wanted to be together and after the CM looked in disgust caved in and let them. I understand that the CM's get upset and give in after a while, but if Disney cracked down on it as a whole they could make it better for those that are true single riders. Disney has to learn that to keep quality high you have to be hard nosed about certain things to make the experience better overall.

I don't think I would make it as a CM. I would probably get canned for "poor customer service" or something of the like. If a family or group came up through the single rider line and said they wanted to ride together I would tell them to pound sand and go wait in the regular line. And I would hope against hope that the wait time for the regular line was well over an hour. I mean, I get PO'd at the supermarket when someone in the 10 items or less line has 11 items.

You see groups of people in the single line all the time. You do have to remember Disney in very strict on how a CM can handle that. I mean if a CM gets one complaint Disney can and will fire them.

Here they have 20 item lines. I don't get upset if someone has a couple of extra things, but it does get to me when someone has a full cart and tries to go through. It seem that the checkout people never say anything. Getting upset when someone 11 items in a 10 item checkout is a good way to have a meltdown over nothing. Relax, have a drink when you get home, take a walk! It's not worth having a heart attack over. Log on to Subsonic and let it melt away!! kcarts we enjoy your company here, you have friends and we want you healthy and around!! ;+>

I'm one of those who truely believes the single rider lines should be strictly enforced. I know they don't want to upset that customer, but at the same time they're ticking off those who waited in the stand-by line and the rest of us single riders stuck behind them. To me, annoying the offending group is lot better than ticking off everyone else in both lines.

I'm 100% in agreement with that. Every time you give in to the cheaters and scammers who pretend to get all offended and make a scene, you are just enabling them to keep on doing it. And it's a slap in the face to all those who abide by the rules... and believe me, the good people see it, and they are angry! They may not say anything, but that's because they're usually decent people who don't like to make a scene. I think more people should speak up though. I know I will personally give a CM an earful if I see him give in to the cheaters like that. Mouseoholic and I have used the single rider lines sometimes, but we know going in that we will be separated. Sometimes we get to ride together just by shear luck, but most of the time we end up riding separately. We don't complain, and we don't try to cheat... we abide by the rules. The way we look at it, we were lucky to get the ride sooner, so who cares if we had to ride separately? I have no pity for the creeps who abuse the system... and I have no problem telling them to their face, either! I wish everyone would make a big stink when that happens, maybe the CM's will grow more courage.... not to send them back to the end of the regular line, but to make them ride separately.

I hope upon hope I can make the meet!! We need to be at WDW together so we can set them straight!! Do you think I'd need to use my Brooklyn accent or my Southerneese to get the point across?

I'd have to agree with Jacca on that one. Brooklyn is way more intimidating. Southerners are more known for charm and hospitality.

Jacca, I appreciate your concern for my health! I don't flip out, per se, over the 11 items in the 10 item line. I go with the more subtle approach. I stare at them. I burn a hole them with my piercing brown eyes.

And if they feel the stare and look back at me, I move my glance toward the items on the register belt. Ususally they look away b/c they know they have been busted!

Gives me some satisfaction.

But it ticks me off when a group goes through the single rider line and then wants to be kept together. Most people know that Disney bends over backward to accomodate the guests. And they know that the CMs are instructed to bend over backward, lest they get canned. So they take advantage. It's wrong. I wish the CMs would add the word "no" to their vocabulary. There's nothing wrong with it.

As I said: wouldn't it be better not to annoy all of us in the lines when one/few guest(s) intentionally misbehave in order to force their own way? I agree, kcarts, they need to say "no." It may annoy the offending guest in the single rider line who's not abiding by the rules, but it would make the rest of us who are abiding much happier to see it being properly enforced.

As some of you know, I have close friends and family members that are CMs. If you do want to get away with something on a que, here's how you do it. Make like you don't speak English. When talking to the CMs use a very bad foreign accent and say the word game instead of ride. No matter what (Single rider line, front of the car line, or just cutting in front of people in line) always say and repeat after me, "FOR THE CHILDREN" (remember the worst the accent the better)! Even if you don't have any kids with you. Trust me the CMs "LOVE" this and will let you have your way!!

Did I say TRUST ME??
