You know...with the international appeal that Michael Jackson had...you would think this would be huge at WDW. I know he is probably better received out in LA, but the amount of international visitors that come to WDW would be enough, I think, to make it a success in Orlando for at least a period of time.
After all of this is over, maybe they will bring in a new movie. Something themed to Meet the Robinson's would be such an EPIC WIN that it would completely revitalize that whole pavilion. That whole theme dealing with imagination, believing in yourself, and never giving up are exactly what Walt had in mind with Epcot.
WHO'S WITH ME?!?!?

I saw Captain EO a few weeks ago. I was disappointed. I was there for the first press showing when EO first opened in the 80's and was there for the final cast performance when it closed in the 90's. I really used to enjoy EO and after seeing it think it's better than Honey. It's more of a story and not just a mish-mash of gags and gimmicks. EO draws you in more.
So, when I saw it's re-release recently I was underwhelmed. The opening with the stars rotating in was gone, that was such an immersive effect. The lasers gone. The flashlight spotlight was gone. The film wasn't touched up. No fog effect. It was sad. The lasers and spotlight could have been an easy addition, just mount something to the ceiling in the back.
As far as enhancements went, the floor moved. I thought this was cool during the battle scene. It worked well. But... then the dancing happened. And the floor bounced to the beat the ENTIRE time. It got annoying and then felt cheesy.
It was nice to see MJ with his super white teeth lighting up the screen but, to me, it was another nail in the coffin by Disney's money hammer which tries to ride on the "what's popular now" wave and has stopped exceeding expectations and just meets (or sometimes falls short of meeting) them. Another loss in my book for Disney.
I want to interject something here. I recently saw Terminator 3-D at Universal again (I have seen it many times over the years) and I have to say that it's very good. It's truly a 4-D experience. From using live actors and live robots to eventually revealing 3 huge screens to fully immerse you into the experience. Disney needs to look at T 3-D as well as Spider-Man the Ride to see how to exceed expectations.

I totally agree on this! I hated the moving floor throughout the entire dance scene! (though it was a nice addition to the battle scene like you mentioned) I had forgotten about the opening...thanks for reminding me. It had been so long since seeing it I honestly couldn't remember everything about it.As far as enhancements went, the floor moved. I thought this was cool during the battle scene. It worked well. But... then the dancing happened. And the floor bounced to the beat the ENTIRE time. It got annoying and then felt cheesy.

You know, I don't get motion sickness easily (unless flipped upside down, then my inner ear does crazy things and *in my best baby speak* I fall down and go boom), but if that floor moved another minute or so, I might have needed a bag....Amy wrote:subsonic wrote:And the floor bounced to the beat the ENTIRE time. They might have to start handing out barf bags if they continue that!

I'll second, third, and fourth those sentiments! There is soooooo much Disney could do with Meet the Robinsons!MmeLeota wrote:AMEN!!! It wasn't too bad to be honest. I sat in the back of the theater the first time I saw it and I felt nothing but when I moved to the middle of the theater the second time, I felt it bounce. I never knew it did that. So your best bet would be to try for a back row.MmeLeota wrote:You know, I don't get motion sickness easily (unless flipped upside down, then my inner ear does crazy things and *in my best baby speak* I fall down and go boom), but if that floor moved another minute or so, I might have needed a bag....Amy wrote:subsonic wrote:And the floor bounced to the beat the ENTIRE time. They might have to start handing out barf bags if they continue that!

If they put any real "imagination" into it...they could transform the pavilion to be the place where Cornelius Robinson works on his inventions. The 3-D show could be showcase of some of his newest inventions and maybe have DOR-15 or something similar come in to try and sabotage everything. There's SO MUCH they could do with this gem of a movie that would give kids the right idea of imagination and how to "keep moving forward" no matter what.
Right now everything over there is cheesy and so watered down that it's not even really about imagination anymore.

Amy for you:
You are totally correct about Meet the Robinsons. Disney seems to just not get it anymore! They are always looking for a cheap way out!
