I agree with Jacca, we love the AKL (which is why we waited for DAKV, to buy into DVC.) WL is also wonderful, depending on how the CRV works out, we might buy in there too.spaulo wrote:But it's so far away from everything! Can you even walk to Animal Kingdom? I hear a lot of people saying that DAKV is going to have a lot of issues due to how big it is, and so far away from the "Action". But you know we like the 2 vacations aspect of it. We can go to the parks to be "near the action" and we can go home to DAKV for quiet and watch the animals.
Now one thing is that we almost always have a car. Because we normally spend some time at my parents house in Gainesville so we fly in, stop at Disney then driveup see the folks, then come back down for a few days and catch the flight home.
I'm a big fan of the car "option". If you don't have a car at Disney you are locked into the Disney Transport. But with a car, you can do things which are insane on the transport. It's the transport where you have to go intermodal (bus -> monorail, or bus -> bus) that just kill you time wise.

I love the feel of the Wilderness Lodge and the Polynesian. AKL didn't really do anything for me but my youngest would love to stay there to see the animals. Contemporary didn't do a thing at all for me but hubby would love to stay there as the monorail comes right through the hotel. But for us it'll always be value resorts because we're to cheap to pay for the deluxe resorts. And of all the values, I love the Pop Century!!

We drive, so we always have a car. I don't like being stuck anyplace.jcodirewolf wrote:I agree with Jacca, we love the AKL (which is why we waited for DAKV, to buy into DVC.) You can really never be stuck at Disney. It's still nice to have a car. There are some very good restaurants around WDW and it's good to be able to get to them!Dr. Ravenscroft wrote:Not even in Disney?Jacca5660 wrote: We drive, so we always have a car. I don't like being stuck anyplace.

Thats true, plus if you have a tour in the morning at any of the Parks you really need a car. JS3901 and I were stuck in Ft. Wilderness and we needed to get to EPCOT for the Segway tour. I am so happy that we drove down to WDW on that trip. I think for the next trip I WILL rent a car, I haven't the past few times because I used Magical Express.

I love the Grand Californian. I've never stayed there, but the Napa Rose is great, and they have free wifi in the lobby (that's where I checked my bar results). The main lobby is the best part - expansive, with lots of chairs and couches, and a great fireplace.

I think they're all really cool...I've stayed at the Disneyland Hotel, which of course is a classic. And I've also stayed at the Paradise Pier Hotel which is really fun and beachy :] I want to stay at the Grand Californian SOO bad because I've walked through it, and had breakfast there and it looks UH-mazing!

My 100 post!
We have only stayed at POP. I thought it was nice, for what we paid and used it for. Sleep n shower.
However, AK would be our first choice then WL. The arts and crafts of the GC sound wonderful. I love that style.
But, anyplace on Disney property sounds good to me!
