Yes, if both elevators in TOT and RnR drop/launch at the same time, the drain on the grid would cause a catastrophic loss of power in MGM.annafab wrote:I believe if both elevators at ToT were going at the same time which in turn were going at the same time as RnR? But yeah, I think RnR has it's own generator or something to prevent that from happening....
If I'm right, someone else can go...
Since, Annafab left it open anyone can post a question.

Added tidbit, yay!I don't know, I haven't met a person yet who can beat me at trivial pursuit. Here goes my question...
What event, if it occurred would bring down the power grid at MGM?
By the way, contingencies have been put in place to prevent this event from occurring.
ToT also supplies the power to the ToT/RnR grid. ToT only needs external power for the first couple of rides, then it starts generating power of its own.

this is a trick question (the Walt/attraction one). Walt was not alive when WDW was being built. he died a shortly after he announced that he bought all the property for WDW.

On one of the backstage tours they told us the drop mechanism was configured to a generator, so that when the elevevator goes up and down it charges it up. After the first few times to get it going, it generates enough power each time to run without external power.Really? How does ToT generate power?

Well, if that is the case, then there is no excuse for Disneyland not to be able to figure out a means to provide A/C to their monorail.Cheshire Cat wrote: On one of the backstage tours they told us the drop mechanism was configured to a generator, so that when the elevevator goes up and down it charges it up. pirates was opened in DLR in 1967. Walt did personally give his input into the design of the DLR attraction. however, the WDW version of the ride, which has slightly different scenes, did not open until 1973.

It's sounding like my unimpeachable resource is maybe not as accurate as we would like around here. I've got a good feeling you know your Disney trivia.js3901 wrote:pirates was opened in DLR in 1967.
