I'll second that !! Boy do I miss those rides.Cheshire Cat wrote:Definitley Journey Into Imagination and Horizons, they were like the Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean of epcot. Plus that JII turntable was ahead of its time and defintiley has/still would have had a 'wow' effect for me, same with the 'choose your own tomorrow' ending from Horizons.

So much. Not that Disney's in a terribly bad state, or I hate even one of the parks or anything, there's just so much I could change.
Given wide-sweeping powers, I'd change MGM to the way it was in the late 90s. I understand alot of that is out of Disney's control, but still. Back when Roger Rabbit roamed the land, theming was over the top, the enterence was beautiful, Great Movie Ride was well maintained and there was an actual freakin' studio there, it was so much better.
If it has to be a minute change, I'd have them keep 20,000 Leagues. Again, alot of the problems were out of their control. So if I'm going to be fair and pick on something within their control, FREAKIN' JOURNEY INTO FREAKIN' IMAGINATION!!!
Also Recieving Votes:
Magic Kingdom: Tiki Room, Mr. Toad (Winnie the Pooh is nice, I just wish they were both there), Pirates (alot of nice changes, Davey Jones is not one of them), Skyway, Alien Encounter, Time Keeper
Epcot: Horizons (or at least something better than M:S), The Living Seas, and I'd undo the Maelstrom and give them another chance to realize things the way they wanted them in the first place.
MGM: Just way too much. No hat, keep Roger Rabbit, Monster Sound Show, keep the studios, no hat, no. . . man, nevermind. Pretty much every change.
Animal Kingdom: Go back to square one and don't make Chester and Hester's Dino-Rama. That's really it.
Disneyland: Pirates, Swiss Family Treehouse, Astro Jets, Skyway, People Mover, Captain Hook's Boat

Back in "old school" MGM, Roger Rabbit had a lot of cameos throughout the park, (especially the Acme Gag Factory). Now the only tributes that remain are a billboard and window in the ehco lake area.Keep Roger Rabbit doing what?
He was the unofficial macott of the park...
When my dad had his birthday at the San Angel back in 1995, the birthday card they gave him showed the three park icons (Castle, SSE, Earful Tower) and had Mickey, Figment and Roger in front of each of them respectively.

Huh. We didn't go to MGM that much when it opened, but I was certainly there circa '95. I don't remember seeing him or references to him/that movie at all, apart from the sound effects stuff at Acme. Poor Roger. I knew his ride there got canceled but I didn't know he got demoted from mascot (though it doesn't surprise me that much).Cheshire Cat wrote:Back in "old school" MGM, Roger Rabbit had a lot of cameos throughout the park, (especially the Acme Gag Factory). He and Jessica were an omnipresent set of mascots for the parks before they sold the rights to him.DisBeamer wrote:Keep Roger Rabbit doing what? My favorite shop on property was the one that was almost perfectly themed off of the Acme warehouse. The shop is still there, but it doesn't sell anything interesting anymore, and most of the stuff from the movie is gone.
Maelstrom was originally supposed to be a longer, more thrilling, MUCH more cohesive ride about vikings and trolls. Instead, it's now a travelogue for Norway that ends suddenly and lamely. It's cool for a point and then you're left going. . . what the heck?Cheshire Cat wrote:Undo Maelstrom? He didn't get demoted. He was phased out some, but the reason he's not around anymore is because Disney sold him. I THINK to Universal for another cartoon character (Oswald? Rabbit for a rabbit?). I cant' remember the specifics, but Disney no longer owns the rights to Roger Rabbit.DisBeamer wrote:Huh. We didn't go to MGM that much when it opened, but I was certainly there circa '95. Which p*** me off to know end, but oh well. He also used to be in Spectro. He was replaced by Genie when it was brought back from its last hiatus. Trust me, he was much better than Genie.
Wikipedia (yes. . . Wikipedia) says nothing about a sale, but it does say this: "Luckily for Roger fans, Disney CEO Robert Iger is talking with Amblin Entertainment to do more with the character. This may lead to new appearances at the parks and more." I really feel like trusting what I was told in training more than what I was told by a Wikipedia trivia section, but I'm curious now. Getting sold off would certainly explain the sudden absence from so many places better.

Well that I remembered (hearing that he'd been sold). By 'demoted', I meant went from being a (pseudo)mascot to not being around at all. That's a demotion in my mind. Come to think of it I do remember him in spectro too - glowing Roger Rabbit rings a bell. And from one of the (very old now, I guess) planning videos. I guess he never stood out that much to me, though as I said, I didn't spend a lot of time at MGM back in the day.MansionButler wrote:He didn't get demoted.
