Re: Food debates
Dole Whip with juice, please.. vanilla and pineapple swirl with the pineapple juice.
As for a snack, honestly I don't usually snack much, though I usually need a soda after all that walking around. But I have to admit that even with the "tongue depressor taste" someone mentioned earlier.. the Mickey Bar is a great snack.

Re: Food debates
I'm easy with my funnel cakes as well. Just sugar for me, no fruit or chocolate sauce or cinnamon.

You can get them at Casey's Corner in the MK. And I think they used to be available over in Tomorrowland, but I don't know if they still are... F1gment and I also had them at the Animal Kingdom from the little food cart very near the Flights of Wonder.figmentaholic wrote:where are those mini corn dogs available? those sound interesting.

Do you know how hard it is to live in Indiana, and go to the Indiana State Fair, and not like corn dogs or basketball? Give me a pasty and a good hockey game, and a beer, any day! Or any two out of those three.

Whoops ~ almost forgot Disney I'm betting there is a beer or two to be had at the state fair. I'm guessing basketball and corn dogs are represented fairly well though too. As for getting a pasty there ~ good luck!cy1229 wrote:Not everything! Oh, I didn't have to give this any thought at all: powdered sugar only. On the rare occasions I even allow myself this treat, I want that pure experience, no smothering in fruits, whipped cream, chocolate, etc.Sleepy90 wrote:Funnel cake sugar or cinnamon.

Re: Food debates
This one isn't a specific food choice, but a food type choice.
Would you rather eat at a more exotic restaurant (Boma, Marakesh, Artist Point) that serves foods you wouldn't usually find at home, or would you rather eat somewhere that has old, familiar favorites you've had several times (Flying Fish, Le Cellier, Mama Melrose)?
Second question: Do you prefer a "typical" restaurant atmosphere (Coral Reef, Chefs de Paris), or a dining experience that is uncommon ('Ohana, Tepan Edo, Whispering Canyon)?

Re: Food debates
Great questions!
1) DW and I like trying a new exotic restaurant each trip...along with some familiar favorites. If we had to choose...I think we'd probably prefer something new. If it weren't for trying the "exotic" we would have never eaten at Boma...which we absolutely loved! We hope to eat at Marakesh on a future trip.
2) DW probably prefers the more typical restaurant atmosphere...but I LOVE the uncommon places like 'Ohana. We both love hibachi-style Japanese...so Teppan Edo would be fun...but not sure we would want to pay Disney prices for hibachi we can get at home.

Re: Food debates
I am not an adventurous eater, so I would choose a more traditional menu of foods I've heard of. I am open to trying new things, but I definitely need to see an ingredient list!
I like the more uncommon atmosphere ~ love the whole Restaurantosaurus atmosphere at the Animal Kingdom, but the food there is terrible I think Disney is so creative with themes that it is hard to find an un-interesting place to eat
I have heard others mention the same thing about the hibachi type restaurants as you BIG, they are good, but more prevalent outside of Disney and with lower prices available...

Re: Food debates
All of the hibachi places in this area that I've gone to have been sub-par or worse. Supposedly there's one not far from here that Meghan has gone to, and she liked it, but let's face it, she's a teenager, and how hard is it to please teenagers?Amy wrote:I am not an adventurous eater, so I would choose a more traditional menu of foods I've heard of. Re: Food debates
I have actually eaten at Teppan Edo...back in 2001...and while it was great...it was no better than a place 5 minutes from my house.
I did run into Steven Tyler there though...stood next to him in the restroom. Yep.

Re: Food debates
I've only been to Benihana with my brother who really enjoys that sort of food. It was ok, but I thought it was way overpriced. I know you are paying for the show that the chef is putting on as well, but since I don't really eat that kind of food, I wasn't overly excited. I was more interested in practicing my Japanese with the chefcy1229 wrote:All of the hibachi places in this area that I've gone to have been sub-par or worse. Neat ~ did you run into Steven Tyler at Teppan Edo? I wonder if he rode Rock 'n Roller Coaster?! That would be cool to have an on-ride photo with him on there wouldn't it?theBIGyowski wrote:I have actually eaten at Teppan Edo...back in 2001...and while it was great...it was no better than a place 5 minutes from my house.

He did, there is, and it was removed because he threw a shocker. Oddly enough, they only removed it from the photo, not from the video segment.
