Thankfully it's supposed to look run down I guess. The DCA version doesn't have a singe rider lane either, but it doesn't normally need one since the longest part of the wait is standing in front of the elevator. :D

Sorry about all the off-topic stuff, Doc. But that's why we call ourselves the Mayhem Marauders. We'll try to keep it under control.

To respond to what others were saying about the Brazilians: yes, I saw that stuff too. It was very frustrating. Especially the stupid cheerleader groups who thought it was so cool to bust out in their loud cheer routines about a million times a minute while waiting in the queues. I've never seen a more arrogant, selfish, obnoxious group of people in my life. They all act like they're the most important people on the planet, and that they think everyone else is just standing around waiting for them to put on some kind of show. It was ridiculous, and I really hope I don't have to put up them again on the next trip.

No offense to other ethnic groups, but the Brazilians are the worst. I can't count how many times when I was there on my last college program that they pulled all their can't-speak-English stunts in the single rider lines, among other places. Total headache and just extremely rude.

Anyone know if they ever put one in at Space Mountain after the big refurb? I haven't heard. The one at WDW, that is.

I was told by a CM I'm very close to that the Brazilians look at CMs as if they are trash and won't listen to them.

I really wish I was fluent in Spanish, because that would be an awesome time to repeat all the signs that they "can't read" in their language, so they could "understand" why their party of 62 will be broken up
I hope there is a single rider at Space Mountain. There is no way my Mom will go on that one and a single rider line would definitely be a nice way to get through that attraction quickly!

They speak Portuguese as the national language. :D

Anyway, always just remember that any annoying tourist is not a representative for all of a country's people.

Ok then, I want to speak Portuguese (although even my friend who is half Portuguese doesn't really speak it!)
And I understand that they are not all representative of their country, but they do tend to be a pain in the heiny at WDW. In fact, the last time we went, my Mom and I had a lovely talk with a few "green shirt" girls on the bus, and saw them a few other times later in the parks. They were really quite lovely and nice in a small group, but not so much as part of a whole :(

You can find offensive, obnoxious groups at the parks about anytime you go there, and it is not limited to Brazilians. One time at DLP we had a pack of Spanish teenagers that went from ride to ride screaming at the top of their lungs as they went through every single ride. I had them in POTC and PM and yet Disney did nothing about it. I went to DLR once where a pack of local teenagers rented about two dozen scooters and went through the park ride to ride. When they arrived at a ride as a pack, they would consume the entire area for scooters and wheelchairs, so all the disabled were either turned away because they were already at capacity for scooter/wheelchair parking, or had to wait until that pack had completed the ride entirely. What made it disgustingly offensive was that none of the teenagers were disabled! They were doing it as a lark! Again Disney did nothing. Time and time again we all have seen large groups with disruptive, obnoxious, and offensive behavior, and - in the end - Disney does nothing. As bad as these groups are, the fact that Disney lets happen and does nothing is just as annoying as the large groups themselves!

From what I remember last Dec, there was no single rider line for SM. I just remember once you got up to the front, they would ask for 1 or 2 people as they needed them. Anyone else know for sure?

Don't get my grandfather started. (not that you would ever see him to get him started, but I digress...)

He came over from Portugal as a child. Where he lives, many immigrants from Portugal made their home (SE Massachusetts). Within the past 10 or so years many Brazilians have done the same. When I mentioned to him that I noticed that many of the Brazilians were using their native language (portuguese) and I recognized some words he said "that's not portuguese!" I asked him what it was he said "they say it's portuguese but it's not! Only people from Portugal speak portuguese!"

Take that for what it's worth. I know that people from Spain claim that their language is the true Spanish. Not what people in Mexico speak.

No. there is no Single Rider line at Space Mountain at WDW. If the line is long, you will probably go through the loops on Alpha side and if you have a Fastpass you will walk all the way to the portion of the line that splits to make your way to Alpha or Omega without the loops.

That's a shame, I wish there was. I am usually a single rider every time I ride it (most of the people I go with chicken out...)

Having worked with an International College Program CM from Portugal, I can tell you it is Portuguese Brazilians speak. He had no problem communicating with the BTGs (Brazilian Tour Groups). In other words, they couldn't use the language barrier to screw the guests in the other lines. They shut up real quick knowing they'd be using the Single Rider Line like everyone else the way it is supposed to be used.
