I'd love the DVC package, but honestly, I'd be happy to win a free upgrade to the deluxe resort of my choice for the remainder of our current trip.

Normally I'd agree, but this could be my worst nightmare this coming trip. We're staying at DVC (parents own) with 7 other family members. Getting to change resorts normally would be awesome as I'd love to stay in the A-frame at Contemporary (only stayed in the now defunct north garden wing), but this trip that wouldn't work out as well.

I will be happy even to get an all day fast pass or merchandise as I'm thinking the odds are low of getting anything. But I'm still holding out for the DVC!!

How much longer is this promotion going on? It hadn't started when I was there early last September, so I'm guessing it's through the end of this year?

October 2006 - December 2007

Though, I suspect it gets extended. Its a good promotion.

Without a doubt, the DVC membership. (And the time off every year to use it)

I see a lot of folks that would like to have the DVC membership, but if I might interject. Will Disney make you pay the membership fees each year? If so that can add up to a lot of money in my book for what you get out of it. Granted it is 10x better than having to pay the initial $16k fee to start it but still.......... Just posing this little question.

I thought it was a lifetime deal, but that's just a guess. I'll look it up a bit later if I've got the time at work...

Edit
"Membership in the Disney Vacation Club includes a Vacation Ownership leasehold condominium interest in Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa or another Disney Vacation Club resort as Sponsor shall select, represented by 220 vacation points, together with associated benefits, rights, rules, regulations, privileges and responsibilities, and payment of annual dues and exchange fees. Payment of annual dues and exchange fees on the winner's membership interest is personal to the winner and not transferable...Membership and ownership expire on January 3, 2054."

There you go. Time for me to plan another vacation and win the big one!

As someone else said the prize includes the Membership Fees (MF) and the taxes. The only thing it doesn't include is any "special assessments".

As far as it being better than paying the $16k buy-in. For what it's worth almost every year the MF go up 2-3% you figure out the cost over the lifetime, assuming it's constant, (220pts) * $4.12 over 47 years = $71,019.63@2% to $93,729.37@3%. So the $16k (I think it's $104/point now, so $22,880) isn't the big part of a DVC membership.

The wonders of compound interest.

can we make up a dream reward or do we have to choose from the available known prizes? if we can make one up i would want the parks to have 24 hours open for one week, unannounced of course so the crowds would be slim..laugh. of course if this isnt' possible....i guess a night in the castle would be my choice.

Cool, I was just wondering. It would suck if you had to pay all of those annual fees and such. At least they thought about that and decided to wave them. So OK NOW my vote is for the DVC membership.

My mom won! She sent in about a million (well, not quite) postcards and yesterday she received her prize in the mail. It is a special Year of a Million Dreams lanyard, two commemorative pins and a little card attached to the lanyard. She was thrilled! :mickey3:

Anyone else a big winner yet?

I must have missed something I thought you won while in the park.
It sounds like you can mail and win? Is it too late to do that? I kinda feel like I missed the boat. :(

disneylandmom, you don't have to go to the park to win. I can't remember the exact address (can anyone help me out?), but if you mail a postcard to the address, there's a chance you'll win!

I think you'll find the address under the official rules at http://www.disneyparks.com.
