I saw EO a couple of weeks ago. It was awesome in some ways, cheesy in others. But even the cheesiness was special in a way. Also, the whole audience went crazy when MJ appeared and also at the end.
No one's gloomy or complaining while the flatware's entertaining.

I like that Disney brought it back.

It always makes me realize how much of an impact Michael Jackson had on the world.

Its so sad that he is gone

When Lucas re-vamped the original Star Wars Trilogy years back - did that dishonor the original films? I don't think so. It was more like fixing it because the technology didn't exist back then where it does today. Disney could have revamped the film around Michael Jackson without changing one bit of his performance or singing. Few years ago, Natalie Cole changed some of her father's songs in order to have it where she sang duet with him. Those changes were done to honor her father, not dishonor him. Changing the film to update it can be done without impacting the original Michael Jackson content.
I'm sorry, but I am a huge Star Wars fan, and huge Eo fan. And I was very p*** when Lucas changed the original ending in Jedi. The ewok song was classic! I am very happy that EO is still the original. I am going up this weekend JUST to see it and the MSEP. Too many times, Disney has upgraded attractions and turned them to crud. In my opinion HISTA is horrible. The more recent effects there are terrible!( snake and lion look like a 5 year old made them!) WHy should disney spend the money on a temporary attraction, such as EO, when they are building bigger and better permanent attraction, such as Fantasyland?

SO I got back last night from WDW and finally saw EO again! They did make changes with the effects. Whenever hooter sneezes you get squirted with water, and there were a lot of strobes going on and off. This was 100% not there in the original. The crowd loved it! I was jamming away to the score and it was very enjoyable. my DW who doesn't like sci-fi also liked it very much.

Matter of personal taste - of all the Star Wars films I disliked the Return of the Jedi the most - even more than Phantom Menace which is a close 2nd. The story was weak, the dialogue was bad, Jabba was a silly blob, and the ewoks were too cutesy annoying. The specials effects in some parts were so bad it looked like it was a low-budget BBC show, and any changes to that film to me was a vast improvement. I liked both replacement songs because I couldn't stand the original songs. I can't believe there's a concensus out there that ranks those songs as "classics". That's IMHO - as I said, it's matter of personal taste.

You know, I expected the whole Hooter sneezing thing to happen, but when we saw it in DL in March, this was not the case.
They had lots of strobes and the moving floor (which was way overkill) though.

Really? It did not have the same effect when I saw it a while back. I guess it depends on the audience and maybe the size of the audience?

Now that they've announced the end of the Nightastic fireworks & the extension of MSEP, I wish they would announce something as to do the duration of EO.

It probably will be there still. I just hope it's gone by Christmas......but if I know Disney parks, it will be there for at least the rest of 2010.

If someone would come forward to sponsor the pavilion to create a new 3D movie and such...it would get done in record time.

It really depends on the audience. You may have MJ fans, or you may not...no matter what it is great! :goofy_bounce:

I still do my "cat horking up hairballs" thing just thinking about MJ and Captain EO.
Isn't it great how we can all have such different tastes, and yet all still love Disney equally and get along with each other so well on the boards?
