Let's see...something slow moving without that much action - but not necessarily dark. Got it. Living with the Land

I actually never fell asleep anywhere in the parks, but this would be a good candidate for me, while looking at vegetables...

That show didn't make me want to go sleep; it made me want to hurl. Both versions would be on the top of my "Disney Attractions That Really Suck" list.

The vegetables were bigger in the most cases - so they left the more "permanent impression"

Are you allergic to some of the vegetables/fruits/plants/fish displayed there or why did you want to hurl?
Come on, it's not that bad - it can be a very instructive experience, especially for kids [if they don't classify it as "boring" immediately, but I'm afraid most kids do that on the spot - although the storm-part at the beginning is not as unspectacular as the rest of the ride]. And, of course, a good place to catch a nap.

And try to see it this way: If the Land would be closed, Epcot restaurants wouldn't get Disney-grown fruit and vegetables any more. :mickey:

I think mindflipper is disparaging my beloved by-gone attractions, Kitchen Kabaret and Food Rocks :(

...because they closed down Food Rocks instead of Living with the Land to build Soarin'? Well, yes, I guess LwtL would have been a more obvious candidate for closing, but maybe they did it because it was easier to convert the Food Rocks area to Soarin'.

(I never experienced Kitchen Kabaret - too young for that  )

I'm sure it was easier to close down the FR area to build Soarin', but I would also guess that they didn't want to remove the Living with the Land attraction because it showcases what they are trying to do in growing food in new and advanced ways. Although those new and advanced ways haven't changed in the 30 or so years EPCOT has been open
Most people would tell you that you didn't miss much by not seeing Kitchen Kabaret, and viewing it on youtube now makes it look cheesier than it did in person. I just thought it was fun, and it is a good memory from when I was little :D

Of course, that's the whole Future World-concept. Or, more accurately phrased: It was the Future World-concept, since it's nearly impossible for Disney to continuously present all the current break-through technologies - technology is progressing way to fast for this. Sad as it is, the costs would be too high.
But we digress...

To me, Kitchen Kabaret and Food Rocks were like fingers scraping across a chalkboard. I just never liked the attraction. I think I wasn't alone in this, because they did dump it to turn it into the queue area for Soarin'. (Technically, the ride is building located nearby the Land, but it really isn't part of the land; they're just linked by the queue causeway). I know there are people who love the ride and they have the right to love it; I'm just not one of them.

Actually the queue for Soarin' was the waiting area for those shows. If you look to the left of the entrance to Soarin' you'll see a counter that looks like one you'd see at an airport, kinda. Behind that wall is is the whole Kitchen Kabaret/Food Rocks stage and seating (maybe not the seats or animatronics but most of it is still there).

We join up with them and fall in
Mutual weirdness and call it Love.”

I loved KK and Food Rocks. Cheesy, yes, but fun.

ITA. It was 11 years before we returned to Epcot after the visit that included these attractions... I think we managed to hit Epcot's top 10 worst attractions that trip.

Awww, I loved KK and FR! I wish they had been able to keep them. I would probably also pick the UoE as the most nap worthy attraction, but I typically don't ride things I consider nap worthy except once every few trips. I'd rather take my break in a gift shop or with a Dole whip. ;)
Can't wait to take my twin boys on their first trip to Walt Disney World! Planning on heading there sometime Feb-May 2014!

In a way it still is. Most of the props have been taken out but the stage still has some stuff left from it's Food Rocks days.
