Re: Favorite Resort Lobby
You guys would be the only people to understand this:
As I mentioned, we alwayed stayed at the Poly when I was a kid. We always drove to WDW from Ohio so we had our car in the Poly parking lot. EVERY trip, as we exited the Poly lobby doors to go home, I would run my hand over the braided rope that acted as a banister (don't know if it's still there--this is from the 70s) and I would start to cry cause I didn't want to leave. But I knew that I would be back to rub my hand in the exact same spot and that would make me feel a little better about leaving. I did this up until I was in my early 20s. I think on my next trip I'm gonna get off the monorail and march down to the lobby and give it another go.
I've NEVER told any one this before--I never even told my parents I was doing it. It was just my special thing with the Poly. Hmmmm, perhaps this should be in the thread "you know you're a Disney nut when..."

dichuy - That is very cool. Thanks for sharing that with us! If polled, I'm SURE most everyone on this site would have some little quirk or ritual they did growing up or continue to do on every trip.

Go for it... it was your idea. I'd be interested to see if anyone else had the same rituals/habits that I do.dichuy wrote:NaCler wrote:dichuy - That is very cool. Thanks for sharing that with us! Thanks for sharing the dichuy!!! I got choked up just reading that! Those ropes are still there!
I get choked up and cry every time I leave the Poly, there's always a sadness when leaving WDW, but it's maginfied when leaving the Poly. I always take a deep breath in before leaving!

BB, I totally know what you mean. I feel that way about leaving the Beach Club last time. After all, I wasn't just going home - I was leaving home.boilerbabe wrote:Thanks for sharing the dichuy!!! I got choked up just reading that! Those ropes are still there!![]()

Have to love the AKL and WL. Poly is great too. Pretty much any deluxe resort lobby.

Re: Favorite Resort Lobby
My favorite resort lobby is the Wilderness Lodge. It's so rustic and beautiful on a grand scale. ...I especially love the giant fireplace with the rocking chairs and how the water flows from the lobby, to thewaterfall, to the pool. ..It's so cool...

good quesiton, poly and wilderness lodge are both nice, but then which arent ?
Re: Favorite Resort Lobby
I guess a lot of it depends on the particular theme you like. Wilderness Lodge and Animal Kingdom Lodge are very similar, just tailored to their particular themes. Personally love both resorts, but if I had to choose, itd be Animal Kingdom Lodge because I love the African theme and architecture
