Yes, I was. Probably not as in tune until the internet though. We used to go for 2 weeks every other year (time share: save a week every other year for a long trip on the other years).

Oh yes! I was 2 when my parents first took me to DL...and that was it. My tastes have definitely changed over the years, but mom tells me that I was never scared of the HM...go fig.
(My first trip to WDW (EPCOT and MGM only) was in the 8th grade as part of an educational trip arranged through the school. (lots of fundraising for that one) My first time to MK (2nd WDW trip) was on our honeymoon.)

We didn't have cable when I was growing up, so basically whenever one of the tv show families went to the parks or a holiday special was on, that was it. I always liked looking at books in the library even though they usually were outdated. But I didn't learn about the Disney Magazine until much later...I had no clue that anything like that existed. Once I was old enough to conduct my own trips, I began going to DL more. (I took (my future) hubby on his first trip to DL)
Once I discovered the wonderful world of the web and the great info at my fingertips, well then it snowballed from there....

I'll have to check with Al Gore to when he actually invented the internet, but I'm pretty sure I was. I went for the first time in 1982. I've been smitten since.

Now, as far as being a fan before the "planet had a fever".... I'm not sure.

Perhaps the question should be worded..."Were you a Disney Park Fan before you realized that the main purpose of the internet was to keep you in constant contact with anything and everything related to Disney!"

Yeh, he did it after he discovered America and invented electricity. Al Gore has been a very busy man.

For me it is kind of tough to judge since I was born in 1990. The internet has pretty much been around my entire life and I have grown up with the internet. I know for a fact that I was a Disney fan way before I started using the internet. I still have a couple of Disney vacation planning VHS' and tried to always watch as many Disney shows or movies.

With all this inventing, I must've missed the Al Gorenamatronic in American Adventure. Maybe he's being repaired.

Didn't someone post American Adventure on the Disney attractions that need renovating? It's not too late!

Yes, for sure. I got to go to Disney for the first time in 1986, long before I knew about the internet, I was hooked then!!!!!

For me, before there was the Internet, there were the Birnbaum Official Guides. I used to buy one every year to keep up on what was new at the parks. (They were better when Steve Birnbaum was still alive.) I still have them all on a bookshelf as sort of a yearly time capsule.

I get Len Testa's Unofficial Guide every year. I am also always on the lookout on Ebay and Amazon for older guides. I have a few from the late 80's on thier way to my house as I type this :)

We always bought the Birnbaum guides too ~ but only when we were going. And I don't think we kept them. That is an interesting idea to look for old ones online!

I remember seeing him on TV one week promoting his guide books and then suddenly it seemed he was dead. It was really quick...
