The Wilderness Lodge gets my vote. The soaring ceiling, the intricate details, the large fireplace, and the overall theme make it the best.

Honorable mentions go to the Grand Floridian and the Boardwalk. The GF's lobby is spacious while the Boardwalk has a ton of cool 1920's trinkets in the lobby.

Wilderness Lodge. Another nice choice is next door at the Villas at Wilderness Lodge, a lot more intimate setting in the Train Room.

Most of the deluxe hotels have their strong points as far as the lobby is concerned, but it's WL for me.

This is a good topic because while we may have a favorite I wonder how much impact the lobby has on a person's desire to stay at a particular resort. Would an otherwise great resort (ammenities, location, etc.) be less desirable because of a crummy lobby? Conversely, could you be lured into a value resort with a knock-your-socks-off lobby?
No one's gloomy or complaining while the flatware's entertaining.

I don't think I could be lured into the Value Resorts. My DH and I are all about the theming in the resorts. For us, it's either the Deluxe or Moderate resorts. There is definitely something to be said about the lobbies in the Deluxe resorts! But, I don't think that alone could lure us to a specific resort.

Having been to neither, I'm intrigued by the "Train Room" and what it is. I'll have to check this out.

My vote has to be for AKL of the ones I've been to. Poly is a close 2nd for me. I hope to visit more in the near future!

Animal Kingdom. I love the Poly, but the AKL is truly magical.

AKL is my favorite place to stay also. You can't beat animals right outside your window.

Pretty funny to see how you rank Wilderness and AKL near eachother. AKL is built on a similar layout. They are the two deluxes with slightly smaller rooms and a lot cheaper rates.
After reading all of these posts I am uber excited to stay at the WL! My companion is not a Disney Freak like me, but I bet he will appreciate the beauty of the WL!!

what a great question..I think there can be an argument for any lobby at the disney resorts (even the value resorts)..but my favorite lobby is the wilderness lodge 99.9 percent of the time. There are times when I prefer the Grand Floridians lobby..and that is when the old time band is playing up on the second floor. There is nothing like grabbing a night cap and listening to the band!

I go with WL first because it's beauty is beyond compare. Then the Grand Floridian that is ultra first class from top to bottom. I also love the Boardwalk Inn..cozy setting and the hardwood floors are so classy. It was great to find a comfy chair there and settle down when a book with a bad storm hit. The bar is also very intimate. :mickey:

I like the boardwalk as well...like I said..i think an argument can be made for any of Disney's resorts.

You have a wonderfully warped sense of humor!! The first time my DW and I stayed at the AKL, I asked if they had recipe cards. She smacked me!
