Security Bag Checks - what a waste
Moderator: Moderators
It is the biggest joke in the world. I put a hoodie in my backpack for when it got later, and my bag had other things under the hoodie, the guard looked at me opening my bag then said "OK". He literally didn't even look at the bag! I could have had a whole bomb in there with several guns and knives! These guys are a waste of money and time. They don't even have weapons, they all have walkie talkies and they are all big, fat, old guys who I could out run by jogging!!

They did bag checks back in the early 90s during Desert Storm too. My mother told the poor CM that she had a "bag full of tampons" if he really wanted to look. Or something like that.
I can see the idea behind it, the checks, but I think if someone wanted to do the guests and the park harm... they'd find other ways besides carrying it in on them in an obvious way.

Like driving a truck bomb into the Utilidor system and exploding it underneath Cinderella Castle? If they really wanted to, that would probably be the most devastating attack imaginable.
I think you're right--Disney's security is more focused on large scale attacks rather than someone sneaking contraband into the parks in a backpack.

Right, that's why I hate it. It gives a false sense of security, slows down crowds, and simply breaks apart the "look" of the parks.

I've been to both WDW and DL within the last year and a half and I noticed that WDW didn't seem to "search" as much as DL. If I went to the checkpoint with my bag opened at WDW, they glanced in and didn't ask to have the tiny zipper pockets opened. I used the same procedure at DL (bag open) and there I did have to open each and every little pocket.
Just a little security side note, when I went to DL I flew out of Wichita, KS and landed at LAX. The security in Wichita was much tighter then LAX, my aunt and I both had our purses hand seached as well as X-rayed here, but in LA they just x-rayed them. I found it funny that our security was much more "strict" then LAX, I would have figured it to be the opposite.

I live south of Boston, so I fly out of Logan... "where it all began", so to speak. Security is "normal", is how I'd describe it, in Boston. Meaning, like you said, I've gone through MUCH more stringent security in other places (including Orlando) than I have in Boston -- where you'd think they'd be EXTRA careful!I found it funny that our security was much more "strict" then LAX, I would have figured it to be the opposite.

That's what WAND meant in Cheshy's post, and the hat referred to the one in MGM.disneyinfopage wrote:... or the big "Epcot" hand and wand... 8)Cheshire Cat wrote: (unless the attack focused on the wand or hat)

Anyone who attacks Disney should be made to go on Snow White's Scary Adventures over and over through all eternity.Cheshire Cat wrote:Anyone who would want to attack Disney property should be cruelly and unusually punished...

(unless the attack focused on the wand or hat)

If they take out the wand and the hat (both together) they should be granted free annual passes to all parks for life!

Drop another coin in slot and I will tell you more.

not Snow White, that's too good for them. strap them into the boats at iasw for a couple of years. I believe that they used to use that song as a form of torture, much like they used to use the Barney song...Esmeralda wrote: Anyone who attacks Disney should be made to go on Snow White's Scary Adventures over and over through all eternity.![]()

After today's attacks at Virginia Tech, I think Disney should really take these checks more seriously! Who knows how many people could be killed by some maniac who wanted to go on a shooting spree inside the park.
