WELCOME BACK Amy!!!!!!!! Can't wait to hear all about the trip!!!! :goofy_bounce:
I like to look at the wait times too ;) Makes you feel like you could be there...sigh
Thank you for the warm welcome back MmeLeota! I jumped right back into working today, although my morning people canceled at the last minute (thank goodness for an extra hour of sleep, boooo for less money to pay for all the fabulous days at Walt Disney World  ) so it will be a bit before I get to the report :( But I will get to it I promise ~ I really have to fix a few inaccuracies in mindflipper's rememberances of the accounts of a few attractions  ;)

I had a friend talk about how a ride "broke down" on him, but what happened was the ride was stopped for 1-3 minutes and then started up again. I told him it may not be the ride, but the ride having to be stopped in order to board or disembark a disabled or elderly guest. The speils that come on about "technical difficulties" are automatic, when there is not, in fact, a "break-down". Also, if a guest misbehaves - getting out of their doombuggy while moving in the HM, throwing something from their people mover car - then they will stop the ride for safety concerns, but the ride still, in fact, hasn't broken down. I have not had a ride break down on me yet; however, I have had rides stopped for both of these reasons numerous times.
I think you make a great point as well. I don't think I remember the last time I went on Spaceship Earth when it hasn't stopped at least once for a minute. My two biggest breakdowns were Spkas Mountain, I was stopped right before the first drop for 30 min then they evacuated us, and also on Universe of Energy, the ride suddenly stopped moving between the last movie and the room where you disembark. I was directly under the screens for about 10 min before they finally just said we're letting you out.

We have only been evacuated off 1 ride...Buzz at DL.

But we were on Space Mountain when an E-stop was pressed for who knows what reason. We were stopped in a braking section and the lights came on. (though we were highly excited and fully understand procedures for theme park attractions (knowing we weren't in immediate danger), it was still a bit unnerving to be in complete darkness (right before the final spiral sequence at the end...it took a few seconds for the lights to come on)...stopped...and hearing cars above you still moving until they reached a braking station) The CM's offered a second ride to us so we just stayed on after the ride was reset.

The only other instance we had was on Indy. Somehow our jeep was a little too close to the jeep in front of us so we had to wait at the end (right before the final drop) waiting for a reset. It took a while to reset, but I think the load/unload station was too backed up so no other jeeps could make their way to the station. But sitting there looking at Indy and that boulder rolling in the background for 5 minutes was a bit creepy...

Back in 2008, I was in Disneyland and had gone to Magic Morning, and I went on Space Mountain, and I just lucked out as my rockey just finished exiting the tunnel at the end when the E Stop occurred, and what happened earlier in the day was that there was an earthquake (5.8) that occured nearby and the aftershocks could be felt. Obviously no one already riding in Space Mountain could tell since we were riding at that time. We managed to get out safely, but as the day went on, more aftershocks occured and all attractions in Disneyland and DCA shut down.

This year, I was in Magic Kingdom and was enjoying PhilharMagic once again, when Be Our Guest was playing, then stopped, and the curtain lights (the red and yellow lights/curtain and border) came on without warning, but it was really odd because the curtain and the border were not there. The Fantasyland CM there was worried but kept playing her role (Sorry everyone, it seems as though Donald Duck has run away and is lost. Can you guys help me find him?, etc) and did a great job.

That's interesting. I don't think I've ever heard someone talking about being evacuated out of that show

Just out of curiosity, what was there when the curtain and border were not there? Is it just the edges of the movie screen that are showing?

My three most memorable all come from DL. We were on the People Mover right above the subs outside Circle Vision for 20 mins before a CM came and got us out. We had to be escorted the rest of the way to the end by the CM, I guess because of the fall risk. It would have been worse if we were all the way out over Autopia and had to wait for a CM. I also got stuck at the very end of Splash Mountain past where they used to show your picture. We could see the unloading area three boats ahead of us, but they wouldnt let us off. After about 15 mins a CM let us stand up and exit thru that wooden door you pass after the picture.
The absolute worst was Inner Space. We had just gotten into the second shrinking stage where all of the snowflakes are whirling all around you. We must have been in there for at least a half hourwith all sound and snowflakes on. It felt like you were still moving the whole time. A CM finally came and let us out some hidden door not 10 feet from where we sat. That ride always had problems. I dont know if it was just the old style dark rides that quite working well after a while or what!

I cant wait to get stuck in the Haunted Mansions Elevator! I think that would be the coolest!
Is this haunted website actually streching? Or is it your imagination? Hmmm?

We were once in the haunted mansion in Disney World, and we were exiting the chambers at the beginning and it was completely packed in the ride loading area, so we didn't move for about 10 minutes but they forgot to tell the cast members outside who let in two more groups of people. Now, both chambers were packed with people and no one was going anywhere. The Chambers however kept going... They reset themselves and went through the whole experience again, so we got to watch the ceilings come down and then go back up through the whole part of the show. It was annoying waiting, but it was a cool thing to see.

That is cool! I wouldn't mind having to wait in order to see something that unusual!!

Speaking of cool, my favorite is still riding TTA when Space is undergoing refurb. I love seeing the skeleton of the coaster all lit up while they work on it.
And speaking of rides breaking down, one morning we ran to Space to ride it but it was down so we went over to Buzz. In the middle of my best score ever (!), the lights went off and then on again. Of course, I lost my score, but we figured they must have rebooted Space. Sure enough, we ran over and were among the first in line. I missed the score but I loved the ride.

We've been lucky enough to see Space Mountain with the lights on too ~ that is interesting and somewhat scary at the same time
Our friends this past trip were stuck on Expedition Everest. I don't know how long they waited but they were evacuated....

Of all the times I've been to the World, it's only been one time I was on an attraction that broke down while I was on it...Splash Mountain, just before the second drop (where the logs drop down the flume and come right back up again).

Although I've been on WedWay (Peoplemover, TTA, whatever) a bunch of times when Space Mountain was down, I've only once been evacuated from an attraction; Big Thunder Mountain in Disneyland, CA. We broke down while going up (being pulled up) the hill inside the cave. The ride stopped abruptly and after about five minutes there was some kind of announcement that we couldn't understand. Right after that all of the lights came on, the sound effects stopped, and, the best part, the "falling" boulders set into the wall and stopped moving.

It was only a few minutes later when a cast member came along and took us out of the train, one row at a time. It was a little tricky because we were in an upward climb. I was surprised with how high up the train cars are compared to the bottom of the track and the ground. Then we were led down some stairs and through a door that brought us to the other side of the ride, we walked a few more steps, across the tracks, then we were back at the loading area. It was all very impressive.

What I did like was that I took a photo with the bats on the cave wall (you know, the part where it is all dark and you see the bat eyes looking at you). I couldn't believe that it was literally two diodes connected with wires. Nothing more. Such a convincing effect.

The entire evacuation was very organized and orderly. Clearly they do practice drills often.
