HISTA closed this past Sunday so they're working on bringing it back now as we speak.

So I read on Facebook today that Captain EO returns on Feb. 23. Good or bad I really want to see this as I didn't get to when it was originally in the park. Does anybody know how long this attraction is planned to be in the park? Is it just a short term summer thing?

I haven't heard how long it's going to run...although, I'm hoping it will still be there in July. I'd like to see it one last time in the theatre...I thought EO was the coolest thing when I was a kid!

Oh gosh I just assumed it would at least be there for summer. I hope so I really don't want to miss it and I can't get there until summer.

I would like to think they will keep it there through the summer months until Labor Day (maybe use it as part of the summer promotion this year...EO, World of Color and some sort of fireworks)....who knows???

I'm just saying it would make sense to have it run through the busy season.

Ok, good. I might be in the minority, but I do not want HISTA to go at WDW in favor of this. I love that show!

Soarin08: Currently, there are no plans to bring back Captian Eo to EPCOT, WDW. This is only a limited engagement in Disneyland.

But it does pose the question, why? It seems a little odd to bring back Captain EO, even for a limited engagement. Unless they are planning a change to HISTA, and the new show will come in DLR first.

I'm not going to read too much into it, agingerbugg. If they did have something, then I would have expected them to do something at EPCOT too. It's just Diz trying to cash in on the posthumous Michael Jackson craze.

People in Disneyland are craving the classic right now, and Micheal Jackson was a big part of peoples lives in Southern California. There was talk of this before Jackson died, but then he did and Disney didn't want to seem like they were making money off of his name.

HISTA in DL was a joke for most of the guests. Average attendance was 350 people per day in a theater that could accommodate 500. Most CM's that worked the ride spent the day sitting in the theater napping, or begging people to come in at the front.

Currently there are over 200 in line to see the attraction now with 10 minutes til park open. First showing will be at 10am pst. about 38 minutes from this post.

So far they don't know what they plan to do with the Magic Eye Theater once Captain EO's engagement is up. There's no current word or plans for it so it will most likely be vacant.

I may be in the minority, but I would like to see Captain EO one last time in EPCOT. It was the coolest thing when I was young... I had the Hooter plush and the little furry winged thing. (Sad, I know...)
