Well, the key to getting a great fireworks shot is just flat out luck and timing. If you time the burst correctly, or put your camera in burst mode you can easily catch the shell as it goes off. The second thing is to turn the flash off... especially for fireworks and even for the night parade floats. The flash will drown out the colors of the lights. Finally, depending on your camera, you can play around with it. I tend to try out different settings before the fireworks begin. Also, review what you are taking and see where you need to make an adjustment. If it is a point and shoot, it might involve boosting up the ISO. If it is a DSLR, it would be maybe the shutter speed, ISO, you're opening, etc. Best thing I can say is to practice before hand taking night time pictures. Always hold your hand steady and take multiple pictures, you have a better chance of getting one to come out right.Morningsky wrote:Sorry for not posting a picture here, but I do have picture question:
I know I am not going to be the one to take these great night shots, especially the fireworks shots, but can anyone tell me where the best place to send others in my party to get these great firework shots? I would love to come back with some. Heck I would just love to see some in a format where I can see what I have missed!
