Looks like this may be happening...with Lassiter directing.

I love the Toy Story series... But can't help but wonder if they shouldn't have left well enough alone and made a sequel to another popular Pixar film instead. We will have to see where this goes.

I think the ending of Toy Story 3 was perfect...and set the characters up perfectly for the mini episodes we have had. To make another feature kind of messes that up...and messes up the arc of the trilogy.

I hope it's a great movie though.

The Three Little Pigs was at the time the most successful Silly Symphony to date. Disney tried to return to the well with several short-subject sequels with the same characters, but they all failed to do the same business or have the same critical acclaim as the first short.

When Walt realized that new original ideas would lead to bigger successes and repeating successful ideas caused diminishing returns, he said, "You can't top pigs with pigs". He would often say this if his story-men suggested sequels to successful properties.

OOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Gotcha.

Yeah. What Walt said. :)

There is often a certain amount of room for a sequel - and the Toy Story sequels (not 4) worked well even though they weren't quite as good as the first one (and what sequel ever is?). The Incredibles leaves a lot more room for a sequel, as does Wreck-it Ralph, than a FOURTH Toy Story.

But I always appreciate an original idea more than a sequel or, even worse, the re-make. Egad there are so few remakes that I've enjoyed. Oceans 11 and Freaky Friday are the only 2, I think.

I really don't want this. It was a great ending to Andy's story in Toy Story 3 and if I want to see about their adventures with Bonnie, I'd rather them do shorts instead of a full length movie.

I would completely agree with you if it wasn't John Lasseter's movie. If he's directing, it must be a pretty good idea.

Anyone watch "Toy Story that Time Forgot" last night?

I am sure John Lasseter still has a bunch of good ideas, but it does feel a bit like selling out to have a fourth. Of course, at the same time I am looking forward to Jurassic Park World and Star Wars 7 so who am I to judge?!
No one's gloomy or complaining while the flatware's entertaining.

Hubby recorded it on our DVR and we watched it last night. Meh, it was ok. Our cat, however, seemed to really enjoy it. So not kidding. On at least three occasions we caught him staring intently at the screen, and one of those times he kept peering around behind the screen. I personally found that more enjoyable than the show itself.

I too don't really want a forth. I agree part three ended perfectly. I mean if they keep going it's going to get ridiculous all the toys being together this long. Sadly there is only one way it can really end.

I think they should continue doing shorts and specials not entire movies if they want the characters to live longer lives. But what do I know. If the cash cow keeps it coming, then keep milking it.
