Planes Movie

Post by Cardinals314 » Jul Wed 03, 2013 5:08 pm

Planes is due in theaters in just over a month. The movie was suppose to be a direct to video release, but it was decided to release it to theaters. Really!? I am not a fan of Cars or Cars 2 in that manner and the idea to have a spin off movie about planes in the same universe is just weird. The movie isn't Pixar, its DisneyToons Studio. The sad thing is that there are plans for a trilogy. I wouldn't mind if this was going straight to video release, but its now going to theaters. I may be the only one with this opinion, but oh well. It may be surprisingly good, but I'm not holding my breath. The trailer is posted below:

John Lassiter is the executive producer...so my hope is that he made sure it was worth releasing in theaters. My guess is that they did some kind of cost vs ROI calculations and felt like they would get the biggest bang for their buck in theaters as opposed to direct-to-dvd.

When I saw previews I didn't know it was Disney or Pixar at first. I was thinking, what a ripoff of Cars, then when I saw it was Disney related I wasn't sure what to initially think. I'm sure it will be a hit with kiddies.

It doesn't look appealing to me, honestly. I was a fan of Cars (the first since I never cared for the second) but this one doesn't look that great.

I feel the same way. The first one, as a gimmick, was fine, but I don't need Disney to concentrate on talking inanimate objects that somehow live in human-like worlds.
No one's gloomy or complaining while the flatware's entertaining.

I just can't get into a revamp of Cars. "Planes" is just another attempt at merchandising rights.

LOL I first typed "rites" then fixed it. Maybe I did, indeed, mean "rites." :D

I still haven't even watched Cars. The premise just doesn't interest me ~ but I do want to watch it before we head out to Cali so Carsland makes a little more sense. I doubt I will be seeing Planes anytime soon either.

It probably won't when you consider there are no humans in the cars universe. :D

Oh, I don't know. They just got done building a ferociously popular restaurant in WDW centered around song lyrics from a talking inanimate object. Talking inanimate objects are a big hit!

If I want talking inanimate objects I'd watch Beauty and the Beast. ;)
