On one hand, at least nothing that is not allowed to be shown (ie., backstage) was shot, that I can tell. Props to them for that respect.

But on the OTHER... getting a permit would have been a smarter thing if it was allowed.
This guy probably lives by the "better to seek forgiveness than ask permission" philosophy.
He wouldn't be the only one. The film itself sounds like it could have been filmed anywhere. Disney just makes it more recognizable.

3 - 1/2 stars, it must not be too bad. I don't have Netflix though so I guess I will have to wait until someone watches it and lets me know how it was...

It's not on there yet actually. They have just posted the title on there. I really want to see this movie. It was shown at the Cannes Film Festival. A theatrical and video on-demand release is scheduled for October 11th. I may find an alternate way to watch it though

Yeah I saw that Amazon has it for $14.99 as a digital download.

Not sure the movie is worth that much. The trailer for it is extremely creepy though...and does make you want to watch it. Might give you nightmares though.

If we all chipped in $1, who would be willing to download and watch it?

$15?! For a digital download? Really? Wow, I really am out of touch with how much things cost now! I could donate the dollar, but I don't belong to Netflix so I can't be the person that watches it...

Yes really, since you have almost unlimited downloads (unless the hosting company goes away) with no degradation of the media, they charge more than a rental but less than a physical copy. The dollar is related to downloading from amazon prime, if you watch it on Netflix (when it comes out) it would be like $8/month for unlimited movies/tv shows that have not aired on tv but still can win emmy's.

When you download a movie, do you have it forever then, or is it available on your computer/ipod/ipad/etc. for a limited time?

Technically, none of it is allowed to be shown, since that falls into the category of unauthorized reproduction of protected materials without authorization of the rights holders. Even your home videos, photos, etc. are technically not legal (no, you don't get to claim fair use). The laws were written before you could take a photo, upload it, share it on the net, and have other companies collect data and click money from it without paying a cent to Disney and without having to leave the park.

Also, considering the content of said movie, DIsney would have either not considered it or simply charged such a high fee he wouldn't have been able to pay.

Does this include SubSonic Radio? :D

Depends on the service and the price. The Amazon one is one you get to keep forever (or until amazon is gone, and even then most companies will then offer you a refund for you lost goods), and you can download it as many times as you want if you lose a copy in a pc crash, or want to have copies on all your devices. With Netflix streaming you don't download it, it just streams to your computer/device, and as long as Netflix has the movies and you pay your dues, you can watch as many movies/shows as you can fit into a month.

They also have digital rentals that work like normal rentals/pay per view, you rent it and can watch it for a pre-defined quantity of time (some are 1-2 days some are up to a week), and then it won't be viewable after that until you pay again.

I found an alternative source to watch it, but it is taking a long time to get set up. I am currently waiting for it to be done so I can watch it

A friend of mine watched it. He said other than the fact that it was filmed at WDW without permission...there is no real draw to the movie. He also said the plot was thin and the characters weren't very well-developed. So...the only real reason people will watch it is the taboo nature in which it was filmed.

If you don't watch a lot of indie films, and like only stuff from major studios... you probably won't like it. The rotten tomatoes reviews (when I checked last) were all over the place with the professional reviewers.
