More Broadway in Disney's future..

So, I've heard that Hunchback of Notre Dame might be Disney's next big musical. Obviously it'll take a lot of time, since they have a huge "hit" on their hands with Newsies. But in an interview, Stephen Schwartz mentioned that he was interested and has been working on some new "stuff" for a broadway-adaption of Hunchback of Notre Dame. I think it could be really cool depending on who directs it.. Thoughts?

Oh dear. Going to have to disagree with you on that one.

Yeah, that definately wouldn't be Disneyesque.

The only way you would see the original book ending is if the Hunchback musical had absolutely nothing to do with Disney. Which would be a shame because the music from the film is perfect for adapting to Broadway.
It'll either be an incredible production or it'll be Tarzan all over again :/

It's a summary of Disney's work on Broadway, but not all work.

My parents saw Aladdin a few weeks ago at Tuacahn (outside of St. George, Utah) and loved it.
What I learned from watching the documentary "Waking Sleeping Beauty" (see it if you haven't...a fabulous behind the scenes look at Disney animation from the mid 80s - the mid 90s) was that the song "Proud of Your Boy" that was cut from the movie has been added to the show. The song is considered to be one written by the late Howard Ashman to his mother.

Hey everyone! I wanted to share some articles about Disney's upcoming Broadway transfer of Aladdin. I personally am super stoked about it.

Germany did run a musical for Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame. It actually looked pretty cool. They ran it in the early 2000s. Here is part 1 of the musical:

Aladdin is currently doing a pre-Broadway run in my neck of the woods. I thoroughly enjoyed it! All the vocal talent is great. While there are a few changes from the movie, mostly they worked. My more detailed review can be read here: http://www.musicalmusingsbyk.blogspot.c ... addin.html

Yahoo! Congrats to James Monroe Iglehart who just won the Tony for his role as the Genie in Aladdin on Broadway! I'm not staying up to see if it wins best musical, but his Genie performance totally deserved the award :)

Sad to see that Newsies will be closing on Broadway, but it is great that it is touring around North America. For a show that was supposed to be a 3 month limited engagement, getting over 1,000 performances isn't too shabby. http://www.broadway.com/buzz/176467/ext ... the-works/

Also, super happy to see that Hunchback of Notre Dame is getting out-of-town tryouts at Papermill Playhouse and La Jolla Playhouse! BRING IT TO BROADWAY :] :goofy_bounce:
