Racist Disney Candy?

Movies, TV, music, and more. Here's the place to talk about anything Disney outside of the parks.

Racism is NOT limited to the South (just a bad stereotype), and no comment on Sanford as there is not enough information yet to know what really, truely happened. Please keep an open mind.

But I understand your reference to the watermelon. I believe some years ago a sports newscaster had made some comment concerning Tiger Woods about fried chicken and watermelon that caused some stir many years ago. Shame watermelon can be used negatively in a stereotype. I personally love to eat it and I love that watermelon soda from China at Coca Cola's Club Cool at EPCOT.

EDITED: left out a crucial "NOT" above.

Actually that was a reference to the shooting, apparently central (or whatever region Sanford is in) is kinda racist. While it's not limited to the south, they do excel at it in fun and creative ways, though Idaho is giving them a run for their money.

Actually, it was a Fuzzy Zoeller, a fellow golf pro, who made that comment. He probably didn't mean anything bad about it, but it was darn insensitive. I think someday soon we'll be past the need for such sensitivities, but I don't think we're quite there yet and I think Disney made a bit of a misstep here.

As a former New Jersey resident, it's always been my understanding that parts of Southern Jersey proudly fly the confederate flag. I'm glad I lived in Northern NJ!

It is racist... putting Aurora on the WHITE Vanilla side. That's just wrong. :x

 I'm kidding.

The true racists are the ones who see racism in every little innocent thing that anyone does. I'm sick and tired of well-meaning innocent people being accused of racism when that was the furthest thing from their minds. In my opinion, the first person to bring race into any situation is the true racist (stepping down off my soapbox now...). :?

The further west you go in Fl the more southern it gets. My hubby is from Pensacola, almost as west Fl as you can get,and trust me, it is VERY southern there....

AMEN.

I can't tell you how I've been snapped at for saying something "racist" when that was the furthest thing from my mind. As a society we just can't shake it if people won't let us forget about race. I don't think much about race, except to try to remember the cultural differences among races in the U.S. Beyond that, I just don't entertain that line of thinking.

I'm pretty sure the guy who made the "Don't Re-Nig" bumper stickers is a racist...

Oh and these guys are totally down with equality for all...

Yes, people of all races can be racist, which you have further used against your own claim.

RIGHT? Sure it's just a coincidence though. Not to mention Cinderella being "vanilla flavored",
