No kidding. Some very interesting choices. Like John Edwards. Um, he ran with Kerry for the VP, and he lost. What else has he done? How does he even compare to a Disney, or a Henry Ford, or a Charles Lindbergh, or a Carl Sagan? Not to knock Edwards, but if the show was 4 years ago, or say in 2007, he probably would not be a choice. Then there are a handful of americans who to me are the embodiment of the american spirit, but are unknown by so many people. Growing up, my idol was always Gene Kranz. Talk about an amazing individual that most people would say "who"? For those of you who don't know Gene Kranz, he was a career employee of NACA which later became NASA. He was the flight director of Apollo 13, among others. Most people are familiar with his quote "failure is not an option". I honestly believe that it was his determination and dedication that was responsible for bring those astronauts back safely. Anyway, enough of a digression here.

That's pretty cool. I got an internship at NASA when I was in high school. Never got to meet him though.

Does anyone else remember the EPCOT poll at communicore? The last question was to vote for person of the century and they never revealed who won, maybe this special will be my way of getting closure from that now defunct quandry of who it was.

The Top 25 looks a little more respectable.... but Tom Cruise was on the original list? Sheeesh...

There were quite a few people on the list of top 100 that were questionable. Glad to see that the people they questioned during the show and Matt himself were questioning some of the choices.
