Misheard or unintelligible lyrics

Post by Amy » Feb Tue 22, 2011 10:32 pm

Ok, so there are some songs where the lyrics are a little less than clear. Sometimes I can figure them out once I actually hear it at the attraction...for example, I could never quite make out what we were flying on in the Mission song...until I got to experience the attraction and heard the song as I was exiting and determined it was on eagle's wings we fly.
So, I have another that I need help with...in the Country Bear Jamboree song "Thank God I'm a Country Bear" I am curious what the line before "...if I could, but the Lord and my wife wouldn't take it very good,"
Anybody know?!

Amy...I found this on Walt Dated World
Henry: It seems all this recreatin' and vacationin' and tap dancin' is just too much for this old country bear! Yep, just give the simple life.
(Sings)
Well life's on a farm is kinda laid back.
Ain't much an old country bear like me can't hack.
It's early to rise, early in the sack.
Thank God I'm a country bear.

Zeke: A simple kind of life never did me no harm.

Tennessee: Raisin' me a family and workin' on a farm.

Zeb: My days are all filled with an easy country charm.

All: Thank God I'm a country bear.

The Sun Bonnets:
Well I got fine life, got me old fiddle.
When the sun's comin' up I got cakes on the griddle.
And life ain't nothin' but a funny funny riddle.
Thank God I'm a country bear.

Skunk: And skunk!

Melvin, Buff and Max:
When the work's all done and the sun's settin' low,
I pull out my fiddle and rosin up the bow.

The Sun Bonnets: The kids are asleep so keep it kinda low. Shhhh.

All: Thank God I'm a country bear.

Skunk: And skunk!

Terrance: I'd play Sally Goodin all day if I could.

Wendell: But the Lord and my wife wouldn't take it very good.

Liver Lips: So I fiddle when I can and I work when I should.

Big Al: Thank God I'm a country bear.

Skunk: And skunk!

All:
Well I got fine life, got me old fiddle.
When the sun's comin' up I got cakes on the griddle.
And life ain't nothin' but a funny funny riddle.
Thank God I'm a country bear.

Henry: Ow! Cut that out!

All: Thank God I'm a country bear.

Henry: Well, that's it folks. The Country Bear Vacation Hoedown.

Skunk: Hey, let's sing another one. I'm just getting warmed up.

Henry (to the skunk): Ow! Come on, we gotta have us a little talk.

All: Thank God I'm a country bear!

Yay ~ Thank you BIG! I actually have searched online without success. Now, to figure out what, or who, Sally Goodin is!

Thanks for the thread Amy... I looked up the one I had confused at the Haunted Mansion with the haunting spree or the hauntings free. I was wrong, like usual. It is Rest in Peace, the hauntings free. Sorry, Avorenn, you are correct!

It is "the haunting's free". There's an apostrophe as well to indicate the "s" at the end is short for "is".

As for Haunted Mansion, it's not the only lyrics that have been debated on the net. The holiday overlay at DLR has a song in the graveyard that has caused variations to its lyrics that have been posted on the net.

It's either "spiders make good ornaments" or "spiders make ghoul ornaments" and "For our tree of lights" or "For our tree of fright". As the lyrics are actually printed in the TDL 25th Anniversary "Dream" box set of 12 CD's, the actual lyrics are:

Spiders make good ornaments
For our tree of fright!

Amy,
Thank God I'm a Country Boy was written by John Denver (I'm a HUGE John Denver fan). Sally Goodin as considered one of the great fiddling tunes. I never heard the Country Bear Jamboree version, but when John played this in concerts there was one heck of a fiddle solo.
Step out to your left please. When the car stops, step out to your left.

You can hear a great version of it here:

It's tune number 4.

Thanks! I did a little searching and found quite a lot of "Sally Goodin" tunes. So it is a style and not a person, correct?

Not a style but rather a name of a song. He could have sung "I'd play Rocky Top all day if I could...

Oh! Well I wish he would have said that ~ I probably could have figured it out if that was what was being said! Hmmm, my search was pretty bad then, since the Sally Goodin' videos were not of the same song :?
Now I know though ~ thanks dichuy :D

Not my own...

Splash Mountain - "Pretty good. Show us your bone" instead of "Pretty good. Sure as your born."
We are all a little weird
And life's a little weird,
And when we find someone whose
Weirdness is compatible with ours,
We join up with them and fall in
Mutual weirdness and call it Love.”

LOL, it is "born", but I had also seen it as "bun" and "bon" (the last maybe thought it was French)
