I would think the carpet from the Imagination Institute would be the coolest part of your collection too! Maybe you could share a photo of that too You know how I like pictures!mjmcsl4me wrote:Was the carpet something that was bought or something you were able to come across, get, etc.? Like all your Figments there. Is that Mickey dressed up as Dreamfinder?

Looks like even companies outside Disney are jumping in on the idea of Vinylmations:

The carpet was bought from a reputable store that deal with Disney memorabilia on Ebay as well as out of their store in Orlando. I really hope to visit the store one day.
I have bought other things from them including one of the banners that hung from the lampposts around Epcot for one of the celebrations. It is neat to see the side that was out to the Florida sun is so faded and the inside where it was fairly covered is full color.

That is neat figmentaholic! That is a great find Is it the same store that had the Horizons vehicle for so long? Are they still even in business as far as the physical location in Florida? I thought I had heard they had closed
Re: Vinylmation
Figmentoholic is your plece of carpet whipped round the edges to stop it fraying. I thonk it's great that you have something to remind you of the original attraction.

Re: Vinylmation
I couldn't remember the name either Mouse Surplus. I can't find out definitively if the physical location in Haines City, FL is still open. It doesn't look like it. But they still sell on ebay from the looks of things. And a search turned up the Horizons vehicle as sold, back in October for the $9,999 asking price. I would have loved to have that vehicle! It was sad to see it go from looking pretty good in the selling pictures to having big dents and dings in it thoughfigmentaholic wrote:Yeah, that is the place... cant think of the name of the place... It took them years to sell it and they had to drop it by like 3-4k. If I recall, it always was beat to hell though.

Re: Vinylmation
Yeah, I think it started out at $14k. I know the huge chunk out of the top wasn't there in the first set of pictures when it went up for sale. I couldn't have it regardless...unless it would have gotten down to like a $100...then I would have had to figure out how to get it up to MichiganWizzard419 wrote:It took them years to sell it and they had to drop it by like 3-4k. Re: Vinylmation
It also has the problem of it not being iconic. You take a dumbo elephant, a Mr Toad's wild ride car, or ship from peter pan's flight and it's easier to identify. With the generic box it is a much tougher sell.

True ~ not a lot of resale value if you decide to get rid of it eitherWizzard419 wrote:It also has the problem of it not being iconic. You take a dumbo elephant, a Mr Toad's wild ride car, or ship from peter pan's flight and it's easier to identify. With the generic box it is a much tougher sell.
Back on topic, before Len swats us with the yardstick...I saw some food-stuff VMs in the Disney Store yesterday. Popcorn, grape soda and root beer. They were really odd looking. According to the box they smell like the flavors as well. I passed on purchasing any...There were some VMs with clear, glittery ears and legs as well. Not sure what those were. If not for the VMs to look at and ponder their worth, there would be nothing in that store to even go in for anymore There was some Brave merchandise on a table at the front of the store...

Re: Vinylmation
I think those were mentioned a while back at the concept stage.
They were talking about what happens with rides when they close, first pass goes to imagineering/matinence who will pull tech, parts, etc. if they think they can find a use for them elsewhere, then the archives gets a pass, then the rest is either trashed or sold to the surplus.

Nice ~ I wish I had some connections to get a few trinkets here or there without having to mortgage my non-existent house...Wizzard419 wrote:I think those were mentioned a while back at the concept stage.
